Job Description

    About this roleThis purpose of this role is to ensure that the scope of the delivery is understood and that the technical solution meets the business need and that plans are comprehensive and are achieved. This role is accountable from the business scoping of a technical deliverable through to enablement of technical benefits realisation, functional / non-functional. The role is accountable for multiple complex small to medium sized technical deliveries or a single large technical delivery, including producing and agreeing the technical delivery plan.Underlays (Global Network Vision), is a major intitavite to revolutonalise the Global Internet & Private (MPLS) access portfolio by adopting new core network with new IT stack to support.This role is a critical one to delivery these new technologies within our architecture and product solutions.Youll have the following responsibilities
    • Own the technical delivery of multiple projects from business scoping and requirements definition to operational in-life acceptance
    • Manage the achievement of requirements by the production of a robust and achievable design and delivery plan
    • Ensure all components impacted review, size and commit to the delivery & costs of the design for the technical delivery
    • Responsible for ensuring the scoping of e2e testing for accountable technical deliveries
    • Produce and agree technical delivery plans with stakeholders
    • Manage RAG status and expectations of a technical delivery with relevant stakeholders
    • Run a regular project review forum with all stakeholders, including; Risks/issues/finances/status/resources
    • Ensure show and tells are planned and actions as a result of the S&T are addressed.
    • Own the commitment for In-life problems/fixes (introduced by a previous technical delivery), ensuring scope is agreed and a plan to deliver is produced and agreed.
    • Monitor, make recommendations and take any actions to address issues encountered during the scoping, design, build & various test phase of the technical delivery
    • Support pilot and launch plans
    • Ensure mitigation of the risks and issues
    • Ensure defects are addressed promptly
    • Ensure post-deployment testing is planned and resourced.
    • Manage any issues identified post deployment and escalate as appropriate
    • Stakeholder management e.g. CE lead
    • Challenge Product Line to achieve meaningful benefits/ Business Value e2e
    • Identify and implement changes to improve quality and reduce costs
    • Identify pre requisites to technical deliveries and ensure that they are delivered
    • Identify when technical deliveries are at risk and take corrective action to resolve

    • Regular reporting updates to advise of progress to all stakeholders eg CE lead
    • Engagement with third party suppliers on technical solution requirements
    • Engagement with appropriate teams on delivery progress
    • Engagement with relevant stakeholders to agree post deployment testing, trial, pilot, launch plans.

    Key decisions :
    • Recommended decisions at a technical delivery level
    • Manage/determine escalation process for project milestones
    • Provide options on recovery of the technical delivery as well as other options including re-planning/rescheduling.
    • Make decision on the affordability of technical delivery costs and where appropriate challenge the costs/solution. In addition, drive the discussion with stakeholders on requirements/affordability and make decisions around release scoping with stakeholders.
    • With stakeholders, designers and platforms ensure the proposed technical solution is both deliverable and operationally ready.

    • Take ownership of technical delivery problems (test and live,P1 / P2 / P3 on prod), identify what needs to happen and ensure all parties who are impacted or who can help to address the problem are engaged in a timely fashion to reach a solution. Deals with most problems independently of line management, taking the inputs of requirements owners, designers, testers and component teams as required.
    • Solve problems relating to the ability of disparate teams to deliver functionality in a timely manner in order to allow the greatest amount of functionality at the earliest point in the delivery lifecycle
    • Pre-empt or anticipate issues for known bottlenecks / delivery issues.
    • Utilise previous experience of issues to identify potential technical or delivery solutions early.
    • Take appropriate action in response to unexpected issues (including escalation)
    • Drive Root Cause Analysis including identification of preventative actions
    • Drive escalations through effectively to a speedy resolution with appropriate technical leads, leveraging technical capability to direct and pre-empt / alleviate delivery issues.
    Be Agile: Leads collaborative and agile ways of working through projects and programmes effectively managing changing priorities.Change Management:
    • Authority for accepting / rejecting change for their technical delivery
    • Triage changes proposed by the business prior to accepting the change for analysis by the wider teams.
    • Perform impact analysis for planned and unplanned changes, including changes to cost, resource and functionality, engaging with teams making functional / non-functional enhancements to ensure that all risks are assessed and that there is no adverse impact on the business.
    • Identify better ways of working, and within a team, lead and implement those and other changes
    • Responsible for assuring technical changes are fully tested and any risk to production is mitigated.
    • Accountable for planning and implementing agreed changes
    Strong awareness and adherence to BT Technology and /or customer change processesExperience required :
    • Own the technical delivery of B2B IT projects from business scoping. The technical delivery will be complex and of small to medium size.
    • Manage the achievement of the B2B IT requirements by the production of a robust and achievable design and delivery plan
