Job Description

This critical role will lead the efforts to growing a specific Category within Consumables by driving critical business inputs through marketplace sellers. In the role you will expected to set bold direction for the marketplace business in Consumables category, own PnL actions for different fulfillment channels and deliver fast growth. The position is based at the Amazon India headquarters in Bangalore.The Category Business Development Manager (3P) will lead assigned categories for marketplace teams, and will need to identify areas of selection expansion, improvement in selection efficiency, top line growth and key projects for the category he/she handles. In doing so, he/she will engage with multiple stakeholders across the organization including Category, Product, Sales & Business Development and Account Management teams. He/she will champion the requirements for the category, through the sales funnel, and drive initiatives to influence conversions, with the category teams. This candidate will need to act as both a thought leader and influence execution through other stakeholder teams. He/she will be expected to represent the category in top brand/seller meetings, and internal meetings alike.Category & Business Development
    • Define category focus for the Marketplace organization
    • Lead launches, build and execute on a strategic plan that delivers on key business opportunities for the category, sellers and Amazon
    • Collaborate with Category Management and Sales for brand/seller recruitment
    • Attend tradeshows and other seller-facing events to identify key sellers, brands who may want to operate as sellers and understand category-relevant trends
    • Resolve seller-related escalations for the Marketplace, where SOPs do not suffice, and BDM intervention is required
    Strategic Projects
    • Lead deployment of seller-facing features & functionality within category
    • Identify and initiate projects for improving seller program & platform
    • Lead scalable projects to improve data & product
    • Define & own programs at Channel Level to improve profitability
    • Drive new product launches and relationship extensions by partnering with the business development and onboarding teams
    • Improve CX by assessing category growth trends, addressing selection whitespaces and working with sellers to grow
    Seller Engagement
    • Managing the seller relationship by championing the seller s needs at Amazon. Build strong communication channels at all levels of the seller s organization, set proper expectations, provide clear status communications, and manage towards a growth plan
    • Work with top sellers to improve strategic and operational aspects of their business in providing great CX
    • Provide inputs to Account Management teams for identifying strategic sellers and also directly manage a few top accounts.
    • Share category best practices with sellers
    • Perform high-level business reviews understand their strategy and goals
    • Communicate category-specific policy changes
    • Identify marketing opportunities within the category
    • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and mitigate category specific seller issues (counterfeit, gray market goods, review abuse, etc.)
    Business Review & Reporting
    • Represent the Marketplace business for the category at review meetings
    • Provide financial planning inputs
    • Analyze the business to understand trends, shifts, spikes/dips etc.

Proven analytical skills and demonstrated ability to manage the business by the numbers . Must be metrics-driven. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills and the ability to express thoughts logically and succinctly. Demonstrated active listening skills, highly consultative and solutions-oriented. Deep understanding of and passion for e-commerce desired Experience with e-commerce, retail, advertising, or media would be an advantage Prior experience influencing C-level executives is highly desirable. Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment. . MBA from Tier I institute preferred
