This creates the need for highly skilled data savvy individuals that can identify and execute on data analytical opportunities, and blend an understanding of the business risks, data, and capabilities to drive results to a new and powerful level.Here at Northern Trust in order to support and implement the data analytics strategy within the Audit Services (AS) Department, a new highly visible Data Analytics (DA) Team has been created that establishes a center of excellence of capabilities and knowledge to support AS in its execution and strategy around analytics.The next step within our strategy is creating the Data Analytics - Consultant (Data Champion) role to promote data analytics, assist the business and technology audit teams in identifying and developing DA opportunities, and to drive DA utilization and execution. As the Data Champion, the role will report through the business and technology audit teams while maintaining a close connection with the central DA Team. This individual will drive analytics into the day-to-day thought process of the audit teams and maintain a direct connection with the DA Team. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of various BI tools, an understanding of the audit lifecycle and audit methodologies, and/or business knowledge. The champion will need to be a great visual communicator and an excellent team player, able to work with people of various levels.Responsibilities: Act as single point of contact into the DA Team for support and analytical integration into the audits Work to define and solution data sourcing capabilities and needs for the audit team Coordinate across the DA and audit teams to solve cross business unit challenges Act as a business data steward (i.e., Requests, Secure, and Deliver Source Data) for datasets used within the audit team and maintain necessary data governance Support and promote identification of analytics opportunities to align with the Audit Service teams objectives; measure KPIs through thoughtful analytics to drive new opportunities Develop and deliver solutions that extend existing analytics and infrastructure Assist with applying and developing audit analytical models and methods Create, develop and validate defined data transformations for the audit teams Utilize problem-solving and analytic skills to rapidly create ad-hoc queries and visualization to answer complex business questions or identify data issues Work closely with all levels of the Audit Service teams to add analytics to all parts of the audit lifecycle Train audit teams to strengthen data analytics skillsTechnical Skills: Bachelor s degree in business (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Economics) or technology related areas of study (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistical Analysis Strong knowledge of relational database concepts and structures, data integration techniques, ETL processes and SQL best practices. Experience utilizing any BI tools for insight creation and analytic support (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, COGNOS, Microstrategy, Spotfire, Microsoft Business Intelligence Suite, R, Python, Spark, H2O) 4+ years of internal/external audit experience 3+ years of relevant experience developing business reporting, decision support solutions, or creating interactive visualizations 2+ years of experience with data analysis or data profilingPersonal Skills: Strong analytical and problem solving skills Knowledge and understanding of data reporting workflows Highly developed mathematical skills a plus Understanding of the Audit Services Lifecycle and ability to work across multiple audit units Ability to foster a positive and collaborative environment Able to effectively adapt to highly dynamic and fast paced work environment Sense of ownership and urgency, with ability to work both independently and as part of team Organized and able to function with multiple targets in a deadline driven environment Strong presentation, oral and written communication skillsAdditional Beneficial Competencies: Masters in Statistical analysis, or Business Administration Experience and knowledge in supporting or participating within an internal/external audit function Knowledge or experience with other data analytic tools a plus Expertise with relational databases, querying data warehouses, decision support or ETL tools a plus (e.g., Abintio, Informatica, DataStage, SSRS) Experience in designing and coding ETL or architecting and implementing data modelsAdditional Information,
