    Software EngineerYour Role and ResponsibilitiesAbout zPDT - System z Personal Development Tool is a softwareemulation product that provides one or more System z processors (withseveral emulated I/O device types) on intel architecture . It emulates aSystem z machine on an Intel-compatible PC running Linux. It is intendedfor development, test and education and demonstrations. It is notintended for production use.This position is for z engineering development team works on emulatingzSeries Hardware features. The candidates will be part of a worldwideteam responsible in enabling the capabilities of zHW, cloud solutionofferings by leverage capabilities of the emulation stack and IBM cloudinfrastructure. Theresponsibilities includes development, support of zPDTVirtual I/O in the zOS VSI environment, developing security interface fordeployed zOS, performance and production level messages and codes.Collaborate with Kernel Virtualization development team in creatinginterfaces and consuming these interfaces to handle the request fromapplication/appliance Software stack. This will include participation in thedesign of future I/O pass-thru and work closely with Performance team tomeasure Virtual I/O performance,diagnosing and troubleshootingsoftware problems within Cloud Integration tems.In this role, the candidate shall have opportunity to continually grow yourskills in the thriving world of software containers, integrate and applyopen-source technologies, and work && lead in a supportive, collaborativeand fun environment. Hands on experience with Linux kernel modules development File system, IO Drivers. Deep knowledge on virtualization, networking, cloud && containerstechnologies. Proficient in programming languages C && C++ Strong knowledge in System Architecture components (CPU,Memory, IO, Filesystem)Solid Analytical && problem solving, debugging skills - identify theroot cause of issues Strong Communication skills Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability,scalability, latency, and efficiency of cloud services running onLinuxONE && IBM ZPreferred Technical and Professional ExperienceFamiliar and exposer to Linux kernel and kvm Knowledge on zOS and debugging programs on zOS Excellent communication and collaboration skills to operateeffectively in a global engineering and support environment Good understanding in container technologies, Kubernetes, Cloudskills, Networking protocols and C programming languages. Working knowledge with opensource Softwares Knowledge on z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE, zLinux will be advantage.Preferred Education Masters Degree
