DevOps Architect

Job Description

DevOps bridges the gap between Development and IT operations. In the capacity of the DevOps Architect role, he/she will follow a set of best practices aiming to reduce the development lifecycle by focusing on efficiency, increased agility, and improved reliability resulting in the collaboration and shared success in achieving continuous improvement and delivery.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide subject matter expertise on DevOps best practices Plan, design, implement, and maintain CI/CD solutions across all environments as applicable and defined by the business needs Create and maintain necessary technical documentation and artifacts Collaborate with development teams to provide expert guidance in solution architecture as necessary Participate in defining supporting infrastructure and software tools needed to enable DevOps in an enterprise environment Utilize best practices encompassing analysis and emerging concepts in cloud services and automation of deployment pipeline and infrastructure as code Participate in the design and architecture of software and infrastructure to ensure projects meet goals for scalability, maintainability, and resiliency as applicable Participate in initiatives to define and implement DevOps solutions which includes reference architectures, effort estimates, and costing Review existing application hosting environments and provide feedback on potential risks, enhancements, and migration strategies as applicable Stay up to date with current DevOps trends and best practices

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains Quality Service and Departmental Standards by Reading, understanding and adhering to organizational Standard Operating Procedures ( SOP ) Assisting in establishing and enforcing departmental standards Contributes to team effort by Working with internal staff to resolve issues Exploring new opportunities to add value to organization and departmental processes Helping others to achieve results Performing other duties as assigned Maintains Technical and Industry Knowledge by Attending and participating in applicable company-sponsored training Maintaining a strong understanding of software development trends and technology Maintaining a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements applicable to applications development in clinical trials

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience. Experience: 5+ years of progressive architecture and/or engineering experience including the following: o Strong systems platform skills in Windows and Linux o Experience with PowerShell, Bash scripting, Python and C languages o Understanding of databases including MSSQL, MySQL and Postgres o Strong understanding of DevOps best practices, tools and Developer use of toolsets o Automation and the development of automation and orchestration tools o Continuous integration and deployment methodologies Minimum of 5 years experience in Cloud and DevOps architecture Extensive experience building out and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using ALM tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira Experience scripting Infrastructure as Code (IoC) and configuration management Working knowledge of cloud services (IaaS and PaaS) in both Azure and AWS Working knowledge of containerization including Docker and Kubernetes Experience architecting, developing, and testing complex solutions to support distributed, scalable and highly available applications Additional skills: Strong internal client engagement skills with the ability to educate business and technology customers on practices and solutions Strong interpersonal skills required to interact with clients, management, and peers effectively Requires a positive approach and excellent written/verbal communication Effective cross-departmental communication, ability to document and communicate problem/resolution and information/action plans Ability to understand escalation matrix and escalate as necessary whenever incidents occur which are not in compliance Demonstrate flexibility with a dynamic, fast-paced cross-functional team Demonstrate the ability to complete multiple tasks concurrently and deliver results in a fast-paced environment Ability to work in a group setting and independently while maintaining a professional and positive attitude Demonstrate excellent documentation and organizational skills with the ability to represent self with leadership skills and competencies that adjust to changing priorities
