Job Description

nullYour RoleThe Electronics Component Engineer is part of global organization that delivers impact to multiple businesses within Philips.The role manages a portfolio of on-going sustaining projects/activities that enables Philips to reduce risk, improve cash flow by reducing last time buys, align with Philips strategic supply base and optimize supply chain flexibility through multiple sourcing at component level.You are a part of:A high-impact, global organization within Philips that works across all modalities The Supplier Transfer Excellence Team (STET). STET has been established as an entrepreneurial organization that focuses on fast-paced, high-quality portfolio transfers within the Philips global supply base to mitigate risk & maximize profitability in addition to supplement the I2M organization for time-sensitive & revenue-sensitive sustaining activities. The Component Engineer is responsible for driving world-class obsolescence management that enables critical I2M resources to focus on growth & profitability.Responsibilities:

  • Electronic Component research, Component Selection and working with cross-functional teams to validate AVL component candidates.
  • Provide support to Supply Chain, Electrical, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering to perform component research and participate in component life cycle and evaluate all components for various processes.
  • Review and approve all new Electrical Component Requests to assure they meet Internal Requirements, and own Electrical Component Lifecycle Management.
  • Evaluate and process Product Change Notices and End of Life notices that affect Electrical and mechanical components. Create Change Requests that enable the Component Life Cycle team.
  • Analyze and develop solutions to resolve all issues associate with obsolete components and supplies and perform component level tests and perform various experiments on components.
  • Ensure compliance to RoHS and REACH and ensure compliance to all component designs and coordinate with team members to reduce timeframe for all products.
  • Review and interpret all component data sheets and evaluate all components for various product applications.
  • Administer Product Lifecycle Management database to create component documentation that is used to assure quality assurance of the end product.
  • Manage all communication with manufacturers and distributors on all supply components and evaluate all results effectively.
  • Coordinate with engineering staff to evaluate and resolve all manufacturing issues for various products and document all procedures according to company standards
  • Run periodic Trident reports to check for component level obsolescence using IHS database
  • Enable productivity through identifying and design-proofing better alternates, enable better negotiations sby optimal part selection based on LTB dates
  • Support/Drive Cable harness and PWA transfer/sustaining projects
Education/Skills:
  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 15+ years experience in the electronics manufacturing, with 10+ years experience in medical industry
  • Expert in running obsolescence reports that provide optimal long term roadmap for components for individual PCBAs
  • Hands on experience in analyzing component equivalence for components utilized in complex PCBA design
  • Hand on experience in commodity standardization utilizing industry standard databases and design knowledge to prove out component equivalence
