*JOB PURPOSE: To serve as an experienced, individual contributor on projects and assignments that are complex in nature and that support and enhance Caterpillar product performance, durability, reliability, quality and serviceability.JOB DUTIES: The primary role of the Engineer is of an individual contributor and this position will be responsible for testing and validation during new product development and resolution of any field issues.Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following:Evaluate new products for technical requirement Develop product test plans and conduct tests to meet product reliability and durability targets Keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies; Support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers related to product performance & problem resolution. Expected to have direct contact with products or components while working in the test facilities or at customer sites.Success factors Demonstrating excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts. Engineers must manage their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology. This position provides a platform for growth and technical skills development. Incumbent will have opportunities to work with a diverse cross function team for development of world class engineering solutions for our global products., *Required Qualifications: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree with 8-10 years of relevant experience in complex system testing and validation or Master s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering plus 6 to 8 years of relevant experience. Must have thorough knowledge of the working of one of the following- diesel gensets, engines, construction machinery. Hands on experience in testing of electrical or mechanical components. Application of simulation tools & methods, data extraction/analysis, failure analysis and problem solving. Strong analytical skills. Must be a team player with good communication and interpersonal skillsDesired Qualifications: Experience of testing gensets in accordance to ISO8528 (diesel gensets) and other applicable standards.Travel- Incumbents are required to be at test facilities during product validation and must be willing to travel between 25-50% of the time.Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO)EEO/AA Employer.
