This center of excellence creates the world-class software that the scientific community demands. It will serve as an extension of Thermo Fisher s Software R&D teams while enhancing its responsiveness to the needs of customers globally.Role Description:The role is of a hands-on Java developer (individual contributor) who actively contributes to the development of new features. The role is expected to make a difference to the product in terms of the design and contribute towards identifying technical risks and alternate solutions to various problems.Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain algorithms used for diagnostic assays, such as for cancer and infectious diseases, or for analysis of experimental data.
  • Plans, participates and performs the technical work of an assignment.
  • Proactively looks for ways and patterns to continuously automate feature testing with measurable and tangible goals
  • Actively participate in various scrum ceremonies such as Story grooming, sprint planning sessions etc.
  • Establishes and maintains thorough and accurate documentation of all work.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, mathematics or Engineering.
  • Minimum 6-7 years of development experience with Java related technologies
  • Hands on experience designing web-based applications in Java technologies.
  • Hands on experience in Java application development frameworks and technologies: JPA/Hibernate, Spring, Java
  • Experience with databases, persistence frameworks and SQL
  • Solid design and programming experience and very strong in programming disciplines like object oriented principles, design patterns, data structures and unit testing
  • Significant experience using Agile Scrum development processes.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with dispersed, remote and global teams
  • Having a wide range of experience and understanding of trends and technologies, uses technical knowledge to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
  • Experience with developing solutions with data storage in relational and non-relational databases
  • Development experience delivering consumer facing enterprise solutions
  • Hands on experience in writing well-organized and testable code
  • Desire to learn new skills and improve existing ones
Good to have
  • Good knowledge of design patterns, algorithms.
  • Knowledge of basic statistical and mathematical methods is a huge plus.
  • Designing large-scale, highly available distributed software
  • Expertise in Windows/Linux programming.
  • Experience with distributed, cloud based architectures including Docker, Kubernetes, service containerization, distributed architectures
  • Continuous integration and deployment (Jenkins, Gradle, SonarQube)
  • Experience with: Requirements engineering, Test Driven Development, Tomcat, Git, Database design, REST web services, microservices
