*JOB PURPOSE: To direct and guide in the design and development of complex, major engineering product or process projects in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality and serviceability.JOB DUTIES: The Tech Specialist/Sr. Tech Specialist role is accountable for setting and delivering technical vision to meet the product line s requirements.Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following:Plays a key role in genset package technology Development, Integration and Application.Understand customers needs & product application and Creatively solves engineering problemsHas a key role in setting program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activitiesMentors and develops the next generation of engineers within the product group including developing technical successors.Provides technical oversight and guidance for package testing on linear vibration, torsional vibration, electrical, noise and cooling system.Creates a vision for use of Analysis and Simulation tools to compliment the physical testing.Success factorsThis position provides a platform for growth and leadership skills development. Incumbent will have opportunities to guide a diverse cross function team to develop world class engineering solutions for our global products while gaining increased business management skills., *Required Qualification:Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree with more than 15 years of mechanical/electrical experience is required.Proven technical leadershipExperience of Diesel / Gas genset or similar automobile/machine products design, development, testing and certifications.Understanding of International standards like ISO8528, UL2200, UL489[Electrical] Must have thorough knowledge of the design and working of one or more of the following- AC Generators (Alternators), Voltage Regulators, Controllers, Circuit Breakers, Digital & Analog I/O modules and communication protocols (CAN, ethernet, RS232).[Mechanical] Experience in mechanical vibration, Noise & cooling system performance, stress analysis, simulation, and/or testingMust be a team player with good communication and interpersonal skillsDesired Qualifications: Master s degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 to 12 years of relevant experience.Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO)EEO/AA Employer.
