Job Description

    Job summaryThis engineering role is within the Core Search organization, which owns search functionality, the main discovery mechanism for customers shopping on Amazon worldwide. Core Search is responsible for (a) research, development, and operation of the search customer experience for apps and websites (autocomplete, recommendation widgets, refinements, whole page optimization, rendering), (b) search services for physical and digital items (data ingestion, natural language processing, index generation, query serving), (c) site reliability engineering and compute capacity management for all search services, and (d) search economics and search performance data science. In addition, we collaborate closely with several machine learning (ML) applied science teams that develop and test ML models to improve the quality of semantic matching, ranking, computer vision, image processing, and augmented reality. You will be a part of a team that is responsible for building and operating a scalable, world-class, multi-tenant, high-throughput, high-fidelity ML data annotation platform that complies with Amazon s infoSec and legal guidelines for data handling and 3P engagements. This platform will be used to generate ML training data and ground truth and also to measure performance across multiple use-cases. This platform will be flexible and scalable to support data annotation workflows from other teams within Amazon over time.Key job responsibilities
    • Build new software platforms to consolidate annotation systems across Amazon to deliver high quality data for AI/ML
    • Maintain a focus on scalability, latency, performance, and cost trade-offs
    • Work with leading AI data providers across the world to integrate their solutions into our platform
    About the teamThe mission of the Search Data Platform team is to build an end-to-end data platform to deliver high quality data at scale. The team owns the systems and pipelines that enable data acquisition, ingestion, classification, visualization, human annotation, training, evaluation, and active learning.,
    • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
    • 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
    • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
    • Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
    • Experience with building large scale and multi-tenant data platforms
    • Experience with AWS technologies and frameworks
    • Experience working in a start-up mode, building products and services from the ground up
