Job Description

HPC Application Performance SpecialistThis role has been designated as Edge , which means you will primarily work outside of an HPE office.At Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), we live by three core values that drive our business: Partner.   • Complete scientific application performance-based benchmark tests in a timely manner, often under short deadlines, to support HPE sales activities as well as internal product decisions. This includes scientific independent software vendor [ISV] application codes, as well as standard benchmarks used by the HPC community.
  • Optimize HPC benchmarks for HPE systems to provide performance results and information that enable HPE to submit competitive proposals in response to sales opportunities.
  • Understand HPC architectural components and features, as well as performance estimation methodologies used to provide required information and performance assessments for benchmarks on future HPE and competitive systems.
  • Provide clear and concise benchmark performance assessment information for current and future products in the HPC market. Maintain current knowledge of competitors and HPE s HPC products and relevant HPC performance optimization techniques to ensure HPE s ability to provide high-quality benchmark performance results.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the company, as well as peers outside the company, to produce optimal performance results for benchmark codes run on HPE platforms.
  • Provide benchmark consultation to Sales, Marketing and Development teams to enable HPE to grow its business.
Technical Skills:-
  • Extensive academic or industry HPC experience and in-depth understanding of scientific application benchmarks as utilized within the HPC market.
  • A demonstrated ability to assess and optimize aspects of computational application benchmark performance on HPC Linux based system the ability to work well with others to accomplish targeted goals.
  • The ability to convey highly technical materials to a variety of audiences both inside and outside of HPE. Experience with scientific/engineering software for HPC systems. Bachelor s degree [Masters or PhD preferred] in a technical field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental, etc.).
  • Keen analytical skills and problem-solving ability. Expertise with several of the following programming tools, and the ability to quickly learn others:
  • MPI
  • Compilers (C, C, Fortran)
  • OpenMP
  • Python and other scripting languages
  • Linux
  • Performance profiling tools and debugging tools
Experience required:-
  • Processor technology [CPUs, GPUs, etc.] from the user and programmer perspective
  • Accelerator technology, CUDA, Open ACC from the programmer perspective.
  • Characteristics of different MPI implementations, and best practice for extracting the best performance from each Parallel programming techniques and algorithms Understanding of parallel file systems Lustre, GPFS, or other. Running applications and benchmarks across some of the largest HPC systems in the world.
  • Analysing and assessing benchmark and application performance for various HPC systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The willingness and ability to recognize and address issues encountered when working with leading edge technology, to work under demanding deadlines, and to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced challenging environment.
Education :-
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent.
  • 5 to 8 years of industry experience.
