Search Jobs Job DescriptionBusiness Summary:The charter of the VMware Livefire Solutions (LS) within Worldwide Readiness, Assessment, Certification, and Enablement (WWRACE) is to incubate the next generation of deep technical architectures, solutions, and services by working with Product Development and Field/Partner Sales & Delivery organizations. VMwares Livefire group is responsible for building the highest level of solutions based technical enablement to support our field, partners, and customers. The Livefire Group addresses VMwares primary focus of Any App. Any Cloud. Any Device. By focusing on the five fundamental technology thrusts: Multi-Cloud Infrastructure, Modern Applications, Digital Workspace, Intrinsic Security, and Virtual Cloud Networking.Job Role and Responsibilities:The Livefire Solutions Lab Engineer is a hands-on Compute Specialist with significant experience in the design, deployment, and administration of cloud-capable infrastructure. In other words, this person will be skilled in all phases of developing and administering the benefits of virtualization and higher-order abstraction (compute, storage, network, and management) in customer environments and is fluent in disseminating that information to a given audience.Are you curious what the day-to-day would look like within this role

• Supporting Day-to-Day Operations of VMware Infrastructure across the entire Product Portfolio for a high churn, always on Lab environment
• Provision/Decommission virtual lab infrastructure on an as needed basis in the support of in-person and virtual enablement
• Patching and implementation of software updates manually or via automation
• Documentation of current architecture and run-book level procedures
• Develop solution labs and toolkits, best practices & architectural references for developing and deploying VMware solutions building product integrations to aid solution demonstration and selling
• Provide expert technical architectural support and mentorship for LS focus area opportunities
• Expert technical assistance in managing or consulting on VMware focus areas regarding initial implementations for emerging solutions offerings
• Develop and maintain technical/business expertise on industry directions and trends
• Work collaboratively with Product Management and Engineering during the development, launch and continuing refinement of VMware products
• Identify product gaps and participate in the specification, design, implementation, testing, UAT and near-production migration
• Provide in-person and virtual enablement on current and emerging solutions and services offerings for Field and Partner Organizations

Required Skills:

• Minimum of 5 years in a Systems Administrator or Consulting role, with experience in VMware products, solutions & service including
  • VMware vSphere 6.x or higher
  • VMware vCloud director
  • vRealize Automation/ vRealize Operations
  • NSX-T and NSX-V
  • VMware Horizon View and VDI Implementations
  • Hyperconverged Infrastructure
• Deep understanding of multi-tenant cloud computing constructs
• Administrator level experience of Windows (Active Directory) and Linux
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot misconfigurations
• Able to work undirected in support of the mission at-hand
• Demonstrated ability to capture, develop, and share IP, knowledge with the community at large, as well as specific individuals
• Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
• Strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral
• Proficient with the English language
• Locations Considered; Remote Home Office Position, Eastern European time zones preferred (Bulgaria)
• Standard Hours: Monday-Friday, some weekends and late night/early mornings

Preferred Skills:

• Broad knowledge of and experience with programming languages is a plus
• Scripting using bash, PowerShell, or PowerCLI command line tools
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
• VMware Certifications including VCP, VCAP or VCDX
• Experience as a technical instructor or curriculum developer
• Start-up Style creativity and execution
• Strong architectural skills in infrastructure solutions such as systems management and business continuity
• Experience with VMware Tanzu, VMware Cloud Foundation and VMwareCloud Health
