Job Description

  • Executes design projects by contributing to conceptualization, development, analysis, documentation and test/validation of mechanical components, subsystems and systems related to semiconductor equipment.
  • Leads the design of components using suitable material selection including metals, quartz and plastics. Selects the suitable manufacturing methods (machining, castings, sheet metals, metal printing etc.) and chooses right surface treatments like advanced coatings/plating s.
  • Ensures documentation in compliance with SEMI, Lam Standards and other standards applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.),
  • Performs analytical work in order to characterize and properly specify new and existing designs, including structural, thermal, vibrations, fluid/gas dynamics.
  • Develops and execute test plans that generate characterization data enough to understand and validate the functional, performance and reliability of the product designed.
  • Develops and presents engineering reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at design reviews (for product development gates)
  • Collaborates with other departments such as electrical, controls, product management, procurement and manufacturing to successfully execute and deliver the design solutions.
  • Collaborates with supply chain to identify the potential suppliers and work with suppliers to ensure the design for manufacturability, assembly and cost.
Education Qualifications and Professional Experience
  • Mechanical Master s degree with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience; or
  • Mechanical Bachelor s degree with 5 years experience;
SkillsMandatory skills:
  • Proficiency and hands on experience to take complex design from concepts thru detailed drawing, parts procurement,
  • Proficiency in design for manufacturing interaction with suppliers, assembly, test, build verification, filed/customer qualification with deeper understanding of issues faced, lessons learned and closure.
  • Exposure to material selection & design optimization through engineering calculation (force, stress, heat, flow or combinations of these) approach, and to address risks or issues related to Reliability, Cost, Manufacturing, Performance.
  • Exposure to problem solving tools 8D, 5Whys, Fish bone is an added advantage. Also, exposure to DFMEA, design for reliability, design for safety is expected.
Desired skills:
  • Ability to work well in a team, in a fast-paced environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Exposure to CAD, NX/CreO, drawing, GD&T, Tolerance Stack up analysis.
  • Knowledge in Engineering Change Management Process, SAP, PLM, TCE
  • Knowledge and exposure to ANSI, ASME, SAE, ISO, SEMI standards applicable to semiconductor industry
