FDP team is building an Internet scale, multi-tenant data platform as a cloud service. Enable teams to focus on building data applications instead of building & managing data infra . FDP ingests and processes Terabytes of data every day and works with latest big data technology stack like Hadoop 2.0, Strom, Spark, Cassandra .FDP team has strong relationship with open source community and has many open source committers in the teamWhat you ll do: Thought Leader for Tech and DomainOwn Functional area from product conceptualization to realization working with product teams.Drive Technical roadmap focusing more on platformization, generic components and own tech metrics like product reliability, performance and availability.Tech Design and solution for well defined systems without supervision.Go to person within the team on the domain and the related concepts.Good understanding of partner eco-systems and interfaces. Familiar with academic research, industry trends and standards. Lead By ExampleLeads across teams with cross functional stakeholdersMentor and guide team members on everything from structured problem solving to development of best practices.Has a strong impact in Senior Engineers hiring and improves hiring culture within teamAccountable for Onboarding team members Breaks down into components, identifies dependencies, understands priorities, plans for iterations and feature creeps, provides accurate estimates that feed into the larger plan.Communicates with stakeholders in an effective and timely fashion. Capable of unblocking self and other teams whenever necessary.Finishes deliverables on time, ensures functional correctness and completeness. Contributes to non-functional aspects without supervision.Accountable for quality of deliverables and artifacts in adherence to defined processes for the entire team. Estimates cost of resources (including tech and non-tech resources)Job responsibilities:Design and develop large scale infrastructure projectsBe responsible for uptime and availability of Data PlatformConfigure and build tools for monitoring, metrics and alertingPerform benchmarking and tune system applications and operating systemsDebugging issues in a distributed deploymentDebug network layer slowness, packet drops, retransmissions etc.Identify the right monitors and alerts for the respective services Proactive maintenance activities as and whenSystem administration activities including user management, quota management, task scheduling, security, auditing & logging, etcMust Have:Strong experience with Linux/Unix. Both understanding of operating system internals and administration.Able to mentor team members and help them in debugging as and when required.Strong Experience to build server(s), clustering, Performance tunings and troubleshooting is must.Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Perl/Python/Bash/Ruby/shell)Strong Experience working with and troubleshooting network configurations utilizing multiple subnets and VLANsGood written and verbal communication skillsShould be a self starter with acumen to solve fundamental CS challengesShould be a good team player with a professional attitudetowards work, having excellent collaboration skills and be able to work independently.Ability to work in a exible self-managed team environment,advanced teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate and negotiate with othergroups and manage con ictExpertise in big data applications including Hadoop (CDH/HDP), Hive. Infrastructure expertise across multiple technologies including storage, server infrastructure, data center operations and virtualisation isPlus Points: 1.
