Job Description

    The Infrastructure Engineering role in the Mainframe Operating Systems team, within the Mainframe Midrange Compute (MMC) organization, is responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of highly resilient and stable Mainframe infrastructure through automated scripting rather than manual processes. In addition to traditional Mainframe Systems Programming skills (Understanding of z/OS Concepts, JCL, JES, SDSF, VSAM, Catalog management, SMP/E, USS, Parallel Sysplex, IBM system utilities, Broadcom, BMC Compuware, and Software (AG) artifacts), the ideal candidate will have experience with software-driven systems management using various scripting languages (such as JCL, REXX, Unix Shell scripting, PYTHON, JYTHON, and zOSMF Workflows) and will also have an aptitude and a passion for developing software systems to solve complex problems through automation tools. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with RESTful APIs using Swagger (or similar framework), be passionate about technology, and open to new ideas and ways to manage Mainframe infrastructure software.Qualifications This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
    • BS/BA/BE/B.Tech degree or equivalent experience
    • Understanding of z/OS Concepts, JCL, JES, SDSF, VSAM, Catalog management, SMP/E, USS, Parallel Sysplex, IBM system utilities, Broadcom, BMC Compuware, and Software (AG) artifacts
    • Critical thinking and problem solving skills with clear communication
    • Understanding or have experience with agile and lean philosophies
    • Ability to collaborate with different roles to achieve common goals
    • Provide technical expertise throughout the software lifecycle including design, implementation and delivery.
    • Understanding cloud , virtualization, APIs, and modern software languages
    • Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages: REXX, Unix Scripting, zOSMF Workflows, Python, Java, C, C++, Go, JCL, REXX, PERL, PHP, JYTHON, J2EE, MVC, JDBC, Servlets, JSP, HTML, JQuery, AngularJS, JSON and XML
    • Familiarity with RESTful APIs using Swagger (or similar framework)
    • Experience with developing frameworks that helps increasing developer and release velocity, improving code health and technical standards
    • Advanced experience working with one or more from the following: web application development, database, unix/linux environments, distributed and parallel systems, information retrieval, networking, large scale software development, security software development
    • Proficient across Hardware Architecture (performance testing, monitoring, operations), Hardware Benchmarking (Agile, program managements, Software management), Design (compliance, security), Software Engineering (planning, provision)
    • Knowledge of server side design patterns and continuous delivery principles
