We are seeking a Leader who loves bringing new experiences and products to life.As a Senior Manager, software development, a leader of leaders, you will understand customer needs and then be responsible for creating and driving product roadmaps and features. In this role you will work directly with Alexa developers, machine learning scientists, partners and customers to understand their needs and aspirations. You will build scalable experiences, tools, APIs and new primitives to simplify feature expansion process to international.This senior engineering leader will own the end-to-end product development life cycle. You will work with business and technology leaders, scientists, engineers, and economists to deliver delightful customer experiences. You have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.We are looking for a unique individual who is interested in bigger picture strategic thinking with a passion for data-driven decision making and optimization. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, resourceful, customer-focused, team-oriented, and will have an ability to work independently under time constraints to meet deadlines.About the teamThe Alexa International team focuses on building and expanding Alexa s capabilities for customers worldwide. We embrace the unique challenge of understanding the nuances of how Alexa can serve customers needs in different cultures and locations in a native way. We also build products that enable developers within and outside Amazon to build global Alexa experiences.Key job responsibilitiesYou will be a hands-on leader of multiple engineering teams that are at the heart of innovation for voice + visual experiences, passionate about innovating for customers, and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new features and products. A commitment to team work, adaptability, and strong communication skills (with both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. The role requires leaders with technical depth to guide the development process, a clear vision to unlock future innovation, and project management skills to ensure the right solution is delivered to customers. You must have the ability to pay attention to detail to deliver solutions that delight customers., 5+ years of people management in software development 10+ years of industry experience building production software Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related fields Professional experience with an object oriented programming language such as (C++, Java, Python, Perl) and experience in system design Experience directly managing 8-10 software engineers Experience managing multiple teams and managers. Excellence in verbal and written communication with peers and senior leaders Experience delivering web services that work at a high scale and high level of availability Experience in delivering architecture improvement initiatives Experience with iterative, agile development methodologies (including scrum) A solid grounding in Computer Science fundamentals (based on a BS or MS in CS or related field) Excellent object-oriented design and systems architecture skills Experience delivering high-scale software systems Mastery of the tools of the trade, including a variety of modern programming languages (Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Objective C) and open-source technologies Experience providing high-performing, developer-centric tools and frameworks
