Job Description

    Job descriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesSenior Medical Coder includes
    • Accurately assign ICD-IO-CM codes to diagnoses from the care plans and documentation submitted by the client.
    • Perform OASIS reviews in accordance with guidelines.
    • Perform all managed care and commercial type of reviews.
    • Follow up with clients to obtain missing or incomplete information.
    • Stand up for what you believe in and educate colleagues and clients on your points of view.
    • Act as a subject matter expert regarding Coding and OASIS questions by clients and key stakeholders.
    • Constantly up to date with coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.
    • Review and identify errors and report them to a supervisor or department manager for follow-up.
    • Probe clients clinicians when code assignments are unclear or when documentation is inadequate or ambiguous.
    Desired Candidate Profile
    • Comfortable working from the office.
    • Home Care Coding Specialist certification required (BCHHC)
    • Minimum 2 years of experience required for home health coding
    • Healthcare background required
    • Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed
    • Experience with MS Office Suites such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
