Job Description

SAP Ariba is the leading provider of collaborative business commerce solutions. These cloud-based solutions combine industry-leading software as a service (SaaS) technology with the worlds largest web-based commerce community to enable 300,000 companies, including more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500, to connect and collaborate with a global network of trading partners.THE ROLE SAP Ariba User Assistance Team partners closely with engineering team members, product managers, program managers, and customer support members to develop end-user documentation for Ariba solutions using DITA approach and Agile methodology. The documentation deliverables include UI strings, What s New Viewer guides, user guides, administration guides, and context-sensitive help. The deliverables enable customers (business sponsors, administrators, and end users) to understand and use their solutions business workflows.The Senior Technical Writer should:

  • Fulfill roles as both a dedicated member of the UA team and a co-located member of an engineering team that uses the agile (also known as eXtreme Programming) development process.
  • Work closely with SAP Ariba s Strategic Sourcing engineering team members daily to provide design feedback, user interface text, and new feature content in short, five-week engineering sprints and represent the UA team in scrum meetings.
  • Develop feature documentation, product documentation, and context-sensitive help within aggressive schedules using the Ixiasoft content management system and Enable Now tool respectively.
  • Plan and track own work assignments and deliver them on schedule with high quality. You may be asked to supervise the assignments of your junior writers for ensuring schedule adherence and quality of the content (applicable for only senior writers)
  • Provide feedback on the content written by your colleagues for grammar and usability through peer reviews (applicable for only senior writers)
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum eight to twelve years of experience in writing technical documentation, ideally for large enterprise resource planning systems, cloud-based solutions, and specifically for procurement solutions.
  • The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and Agile-based engineering environment.
  • The candidate should have the experience in developing documents with strong technical aptitude for a multitude of audiences that include end users, administrators, system integrators, business managers, support and services organizations, and partners.
  • The candidate should demonstrate a strong command of the English grammar, a clear writing style and excellent content organization skills.
  • The candidate is expected to work with developers and represent documentation requirements during product design meetings.
  • The candidate should write content for overlapping product releases without compromising quality and schedule adherence.
  • For the senior writer role, the candidate should possess the experience of mentoring junior writers and peer reviewing their deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, English, or in a related field / Experience in documenting integration, web services, and APIs
  • Experience in using DITA and content management systems, Basic understanding of HTML, XML, and cXML
  • Knowledge of Siebel CRM, Jira, perforce or other source control systems / Knowledge of Captivate, Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel are desirable
