Job summaryDo you want to shape the future of how Alexa enabled devices connect with Alexa Cloud and vice versa Do you want to be part of a team that builds services used by million of customers If you said yes to any or all of those, come join the Alexa Connected Devices!We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to lead the development of tier-1 connectivity services for Alexa Cloud that enable connectivity between Alexa enabled devices (Echo, Smart Home etc) and Alexa Cloud.Key job responsibilitiesYou will design, develop, test and deploy cross team projects, meet with related stakeholders, drive execution, and mentor junior engineers. You will be an independent developer capable of working on your own and guiding team members to navigate blocking issues. In this role, you will create functionality that will streamline connectivity between Alexa-enabled devices and Alexa Cloud. You will influence design for your team software and play a pivotal role in designing the future of Alexa Connectivity. A day in the lifeYou will be the responsible for design, development, and operations of features in your services. You will brainstorm new ideas and work on forward looking features with senior software engineers. You will analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy software features and defect fixes. You will participate in sprint planning and daily scrums, breaking down technical work, identifying technical blockers, and navigating solutions. You will mentor team members. You will partner with your managers, other technical leaders in your team to achieve a desired technical consensus. You will author docs to communicate proposals and designs.About the teamThe mission of the Alexa Connecitivity teams is to deliver a low latency, low cost, highly reliable, and high scalable connectivity between Alexa enabled devices and Alexa Cloud. The changes we make, improves the speed and reliability experienced by end customers when interacting with Alexa devices, and simplifies experience for developers and rest of Alexa by abstracting the connection management from them. The team handles tens of billions of transactions per day. We are cold starting this team in Bangalore.So, this is a highly visible role to get in the ground floor to build new features, and operate a tier-1 Cloud Service. Our newest engineer will be customer-centric, enjoy working on complex software problems, possess analytical and problem-solving skills.,
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
* 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams* 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers* Excellent oral and written communication skills* Experience in partnering with product and program management teams* Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects* Possesses analytical and problem-solving skills* Proven experience in building, leading, managing, and mentoring engineering team. * Bachelor s/Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent* Development experience defining, developing and maintaining REST based interfaces* Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability* Excellence in technical communication with peers* Demonstrated ability to mentor software developers
