We ll need to tackle problems that span a variety of domains: computer vision, image recognition, machine learning, real-time and distributed systems.The Role: As a Software Development Engineer in Physical Store Tech, you will work in a team of talented engineers to build low-latency solutions for frontend (Javascript, CSS, hybrid), middle tier (Java, Spring) and backend (non-relational databases and other AWS services) as well as identify and evaluate new technology options for the challenges we are trying to solve. We are looking for a smart engineer who can effectively deal with ambiguity and work independently to clarify requirements, build prototypes and deliver results quickly. Passion and established experience for full stack software development Proficiency in software system design Expertise in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design and complexity analysis. Ability to produce bullet-proof code that is fault-tolerant, efficient and maintainable. Working knowledge of UNIX systems Experience taking a lead role developing complex software systems that have successfully been delivered to customers. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs and product strategy. Industry experience building highly available, distributed services Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their abilities in all aspects of their engineering skill-sets Excellent oral and written communication skills Meets/exceeds Amazon s leadership principles requirements for this role
