Because you belong at Twilio. The Who, What, Why and Where Twilio is growing rapidly and seeking a Data Engineer to be a key member of the Twilio Flex R&D unit. Flex is Twilio s contact center platform and is a unique solution that provides customers with the building blocks they need to build a fully customized contact center solution to meet their needs. You would be one of the first Data Engineers in Bangalore, India for the Flex R&D unit. Reporting to an Engineering Director, you will serve as the Data Architect for Flex solution defining data flows and models that accurately reflect that data needs of the entire multi-channel contact center experience. You will work closely with Product Managers, Flex Architect, and engineering teams to ensure that proper understanding of customer data needs and data flows are translated into consumable models that result in engineering solutions that delight customers with the availability of their contact center data accurately and with low-latency. Who Twilio is looking for a Data Engineer who lives the Twilio Magic and has a demonstrated track record of building highly scalable and reliable enterprise native cloud applications, optimizing and maintaining conceptual and logical data models, with an API first approach, has experience and exposure to the entire development lifecycle from idea to design, requirements to implementation, testing through deployment, and beyond into support. Not only will you be responsible for tackling some of the most complex and exciting technical problems in the industry, you will also be working across the product scope based on priority needs and work directly with others to provide advice and guidance on implementation approach, lead cross-team technical discussions, build relationships across architecture and engineering that help resolve bottlenecks and provide the best production solution. You will also:
• Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science or related industry experience
• 9-11 years of experience designing scalable database solutions for distributed systems that serve all facets of data needs from low-latency (
• A track record of translating customer requirements into a definition of data flows.
• Data storage design and implementation experience in cloud native technologies (ElasticSearch, Arora, Dynamo, Elasticache etc).
• Hands-on experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and caches.
• Proficient with JavaScript & Java
• Experience with DataStreaming/Processing such as Kafka/Kinesis, KafkaStreams, Flink, Spark
• Experience with container technologies - Docker/Kubernetes.
• Extensive experience with REST API design and implementation.
• Experience developing data retention and compliance rules for compliance environments such as GDPR and HIPAA.
• Knowledge of architectural patterns and archetypes for building mature services, especially for distributed and multi-regional deployments.
• Excellent abilities in high level service design - modeling interfaces and internals in a proper modular, composable, and extensible ways.
• Experience with AWS, GCP or other public cloud infrastructure platforms. Multi-region deployment is a plus.
• Experience implementing modern automated testing and CI/CD pipelines. Develop, Test, Deploy your code.
• Champion of good engineering habits: development and test techniques, security, tech debt reduction.
• Strong belief in automation over toil.
• Positive attitude and aptitude to learn and execute quickly in a small team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong expertise in solving complex production issues.
• Familiar with Scrum and Agile methodologies.
• Previous experience with Contact Center and Customer Engagement solutions is a plus.

How You Work
• Work with product management and customers to define the full lifecycle of data requirements and flows for the multi-channel Flex contact center.
• Based on derived requirements build an as-is and to-be data model and corresponding migration plan.
• Design effective data solutions and models that control the data flow through the entire contact center.
• Define appropriate data storage solutions in collaboration with Flex Architects that satisfy scale, aggregation, and latency requirements.
• Define technical specifications for building reporting and data exposure in Flex UI to customers (Real time and Historical Reporting).
• Collaborate with the global engineering team on education and proper implementation and use of defined data models.
