Search Jobs Job DescriptionVMConAWS Customer Response EngineerMission:The customer response engineering team is responsible for addressing critical VMConAWS platform customer-initiated incidents, which require component/product expertise and passion for complex problem solving. As a customer response engineer you will work on complex customer-initiated incidents, initially triaged by VMware s Global Support team. You will be the expert, who will pinpoint the impacted service component and will work with the Service Owner on customer remediation and problem management.Being in the center of all complex issues coming from VMware s customers, you ll serve as a liaison between engineering and customer facing teams to develop high quality solutions to meet customer expectations. You ll use data driven approach to identify product defects and improvements, whilst also improving capabilities of the Customer facing responders.Responsibilities DevOps mindset Strong problem-solving and analytical trouble-shooting skills with an aptitude for continuous learning of new technologies Passion and ability to troubleshoot and diagnose entire technology stacks Identify, gather, analyze key performance metrics, logs, and alerts Passion for solving complex issues running real customer workloads across cloud and on-prem environments Perform automated remediation actions in a methodical and well documented manner Strong interpersonal skills and ability to articulate complex technical issues to non-technical audience Participate and contribute to post-mortems to analyze and prevent repeat failures Work closely with software engineering teams to improve availability of services Ensure infrastructure security compliance Conduct periodic on call duties as needed on a regular basisMinimum Qualifications BS in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent industry experience Domain level understanding of Public/Private Cloud Infrastructure & Networking Experience operating, troubleshooting, and scaling online services Strong communication and interpersonal skills Systematic problem-solving approach coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive Professional and open-minded attitude Experience administering Linux systems in a production environment On Call support for high priority incidents Operational experience with networking (WAN or LAN) and an understanding of network theory Proficient in a common scripting language: Bash, Python, Go, Ruby, etc. Experience with VMware products: vSphere, vCenter, ESX/ESXi, vSAN, and NSX Ability to learn in a professional environmentPreferred Qualifications Experience with modern container orchestration systems: Kubernetes, Mesos, DC/OS, Swarm Experience with infrastructure configuration and automations processes and tools: Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Fabric Experience with security in the cloud: Intrusion, penetration, and vulnerability scanning Experience with monitoring solutions: ELK, Splunk, SUMO, Nagios, Prometheus Experience with Atlassian JIRA Service Desk, PagerDuty Experience with Change Management processes and functions Experience with various data technologies including relational and non-relational databases and message queues Good working knowledge of build automation and continuous integration/delivery ecosystem: Git, Gerrit, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Docker, Nexus, Artifactory, Selenium.About UsVMware is a global leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility.
