Job Title: Analyst-Accrual & Prepayment Controls Location: ChennaiAbout Barclays Barclays is a British universal bank. Ensure end to end functionalities and reporting capabilities of the automated tool APE are clearly understood in a granular level Ensure to have detailed understanding of each cost category of accrual managed and their accounting treatment, source of accrual inputs, dependencies and challenges Review of aged accrual metrics and establish robust process with FBPs Provide Month end close support for multiple functions, facing off to the Cost Lead & FBPs Custodian for APE static table maintenance Work with Change Management team on various finance project impacting the month-end close process like Faster Ledger Close, Coupa Deployment etc. Ensure all control and governance activities are regularly carried and update provided to management like EUDA review, RCSA etc Ensure periodic review of A&P guideline, desk procedure notes of non-purchase order based accrual / prepayment, APE system workflow and guideline to ensure they are update, robust and covers all key aspects at all time.What will you be doing The candidate may be required to carry below activities, not limited to any of the following:Cost Controllership Month end close o Cost Accruals & Prepayments - Pre-month review of expense and accruals, Calculation of accruals and maintenance of calculation models, liaise with FBPs to ensure posting of accruals, prepayments and expense re class (if required) & Adequate substantiation of accruals and prepayments, o Flash Process - Review and analysis of Flash Results, ensure month-end landing position is accurate and process necessary adjustments adhering to FLC guideline. o Balance Sheet Reconciliation & Sign-off - Substantiation and reconciliation of all accruals and prepayments posted by the team, Balance sheet reporting by account line & Account Ownership sign-off o Liaison with internal / external auditors and signing attestation to expense validity for CFO.Controls & Governance o Presenting monthly dashboards and MI to respective Lead FBPs & Business Managers for detailed review of aged accrual. o Monitoring and highlighting the risk and opportunitiesReporting Produce accurate, timely and reliable Balance sheet metrics covering all clusters and functions Monthly aged accrual reports to FBPs and Financial Control team on need basis. Update and improve reports (in line with business objectives) focusing on scalability, efficiency and effectivenessProjects / Transformation Provide active support in executing Cost Transformation Projects within Cost FTC Apply lean thinking and identify the areas to automate or improve to achieve higher efficiencyHierarchy & Reference data management Good understanding of Barclays systems and cost landscape, data flows, ledger interfaces Identify the opportunities for scalability of current footprint and work towards establishing a larger coverage Custodian for APE static table maintenanceWhat we re looking for:Post graduate qualification in a numerate/information discipline desirable CA and/or MBA (Finance) / equivalent qualification with a strong academic record Experience in Financial Reporting, Control, Planning and/or Analytics Barclays data and/or analytics experience a distinct advantage Highly motivated self-starter and Strong planning & organisational skillTechnical Knowledge Continually striving for process improvement Knowledge of APE systems and processes would be an advantage Understanding of the range of products and services within the firm and the ability to apply this to reporting requirementsSkills that will help you in the role:Personal and Interpersonal Skills Confident and assertive manner.
