This includes 24/7 site database support, engineering, new database builds, deploying schema changes to production databases while maintaining DB availability targets, implementing security policies, managing PP development databases, working on various NoSQL implementations and scripting to automate. We are looking for an exceptional Database engineer to join our DBI team to support our mission critical databases. The ideal candidate will enjoy various aspects of Database Administration, DevOps and Engineering and have opportunities to work on cutting edge technologies within Oracle, GoldenGate, Mongo, Cassandra, Aerospike and Couchbase. In addition, strong Shell, Perl, and Python scripting experience including familiarity with GitHub, Ansible and other tools will be a big plus.PayPal Database team is responsible for fulfilling all database infrastructure needs of PayPal site. Strong Shell, Perl, and Python scripting experience (any one scripting language) is a must. Familiarity with GitHub, Ansible and other tools is a big Plus.Responsibilities:Triage incidences and identify root causes. Propose corrective/preventive actions and complete such actionsDevelop scripts and other forms of automation for routine tasks.SQL review/tuning and suggest areas of improvementsFollow change management and security guidelines and execute critical change requestsInstall, upgrade and patch databasesDocument known solutions to enable faster rediscovery.Provide quality customer satisfaction.
