Job Description

deputy manager supplier quality in chennai* Works with local India and global Supplier Quality and Procurement organizations to support the sourcing process, conducting potential supplier assessments and participating in technical review meetings as required. * Functions as a liaison between Purchasing, Engineering, Operations, and the suppliers to resolve supplier quality issues and to provide technical support. * Communicates supplied part quality issues. * Supports the investigation of supplier quality problems and coordinates implementation of effective and timely resolutions. * Develops and manages working relationships with both internal functions and supplier to manage resolution of supplier issues. * Coordinates containment activities to minimize supplied part quality impact to the plants. * Provides, as needed, support for formal 8D containment, root cause, and corrective action documentation. (Note: 8D is a standard automotive industry problem solving methodology) * Ensures required Supplier Quality documentation is organized and retained according to corporate guidelines. * Reviews and audits supplier manufacturing processes and quality. Summarizes, reports, and presents audit results. * Assists in the implementation and monitoring of advanced quality planning with selected future product suppliers, as required. * Validates supplier design of product and processes utilizing the automotive standard, AIAG PPAP process (Automotive Industry Action Group Production Part Approval Process). * Monitors supplier performance and reports results to management. * Improves quality performance of supplier by conducting workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing a quality system, or other technical support required. * Manages supply base by monitoring, reporting, and providing recommendations on issues which could affect quality, delivery, or pricing. * Posts, calculates, and analyzes routine statistical data. * Manages ongoing relationships and resolves conflicts as needed. * Adheres to corporate Supplier Quality and Procurement policies and procedures. * Assures accurate and timely records are maintained within various systems, including QIM 8D, Cost to Complete (CTC), deviation, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) items.
