Job Description

    We are looking for a strategic thinker to join our team as an emergency management specialist. The responsibilities of the emergency management specialist include coordinating resources and shelters, ensuring the communitys needs are met, and making sure that all responders on the ground are well trained.To be successful as an emergency management specialist, you should have the ability to remain calm in a crisis. Ultimately, a top-notch emergency management specialist should be strategic, detailed, organized, and able to see details at a distance.Emergency Management Specialist Responsibilities:
    • Researching various regions prone to natural disasters and coming up with specific preparedness plans.
    • Ensuring all preparedness plans adhere to federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Assisting with the training of the public, public agencies, and private organizations in all disaster response protocols.
    • Setting up emergency evacuation routes to reduce traffic and provide a safe escape for the community.
    • Ensuring various agencies are in place to set up temporary shelters if needed.
    • Coordinating the delivery of food, water, and medical supplies to areas that have been hit by a natural disaster.
    • Helping communities affected by natural disasters to apply for federal funding.
    • Maximizing disaster relief efforts by acting as the liaison between federal, state, local, and municipal agencies.
    • Preparing status reports on the recovery efforts, needs, and preliminary damage assessments for all emergency situations.
    • Planning and implementing community outreach programs.
    Emergency Management Specialist Requirements:
    • Bachelors degree in emergency management, public safety, or a related field.
    • A minimum of 2 years experience in emergency management.
    • Certification from the International Association of Emergency Managers may be advantageous.
    • The ability to remain calm under pressure.
    • Excellent critical thinking, organizational, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • The flexibility to make quick decisions as disasters change and develop.
