Do it here.What you ll be doing.As a security engineer in the Wireline digital team, you will be the technical lead to ensure all the portfolio Web applications and mobile apps, both customer-facing and internal, are deployed in our network securely. You will be responsible for researching, designing and enforcing security requirements for technical and system components of these apps and their integration into Verizon s network and backend systems. You will also work with CISD team to understand security threats and corrective plans.You will collaborate with vendors and the broader and security communities to stay up to speed on the latest security developments and ensure their future capabilities align with Verizon s needs.
• Conducting security vulnerability assessments including, but not limited to, vulnerability scanning, compliance auditing, impact analysis, and risk assessments using tools similar to Fortify, Blackduck, and Nessus.
• Engaging in the Incident Response Lifecycle to mitigate, circumvent, and prevent attacker objectives, including the validation and authorship of use cases and functions leveraging event data.
• Maintaining a working knowledge of network and security-related technologies in support of a multi-vendor, multi-platform environment.
• Building relationships with Product Managers, customers, engineering, operations, and security teams to understand how to develop effective security solutions.
• Communicating progress, findings, and ensuring successful handoff of deliverables to Development teams.
• Building domain knowledge of Verizon s environment to understand long-term risk areas that will develop as the systems evolve.
• Planning and tracking the security compliance activities across multiple development teams, Infra team and Production support team and reporting the progress in executive forums.
Where you ll be working:This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.What we re looking for.You will need to have:
• Bachelor s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
• A degree.
• Ability to work independently on multiple high-priority projects.
• Ability to manage multiple high-visibility, complex technical projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience related to computer or network security.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
