Job Description

    As a Cashier, you play a fundamental role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring smooth transactions at the point of sale. You are responsible for accurately processing payments, handling cash, and assisting customers with their inquiries. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:
    • Customer Service: Greet customers in a friendly and courteous manner. Assist customers with locating products, answering questions, and providing information about promotions or store policies.
    • Cash Handling: Process cash, credit card, debit card, and other forms of payment accurately and efficiently. Count cash in the register at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure the correct amount.
    • Transaction Processing: Scan merchandise, enter prices, and calculate totals using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Verify prices and quantities of items to ensure accuracy.
    • Bagging:Bag items for customers and assist with carrying out purchases if needed. Handle fragile or perishable items with care.
    • Returns and Exchanges: Process returns, exchanges, and refunds according to store policies. Verify the condition of returned items and handle them appropriately.
    • Sales Reporting:Maintain accurate records of transactions, including voids, discounts, and refunds. Prepare daily sales reports and reconcile cash drawers at the end of each shift.
    • Security:Follow security procedures to prevent theft and minimize losses. Report any suspicious activities or incidents to the store manager or security personnel.
    • Cleanliness:Keep the checkout area clean and organized. Ensure that the POS terminal and surrounding area are free of clutter and debris.
    • Compliance:Adhere to company policies and procedures, including cash handling procedures, safety regulations, and customer service standards. Stay informed about product knowledge and promotions.
    • Teamwork:Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operation of the checkout area. Assist with restocking shelves, maintaining displays, and other tasks as needed.
    Requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous experience in a retail or customer service role is preferred but not required.
    • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with POS systems.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
