Job Description

    COBOL/JAVA Developer Job DescriptionJob Overview:The Java Developer will be part of the Retail Banking team to provide implementing services for Cards Management solutions for our clients.This Java Developer role will involve providing application and technical implementations and to deliver external and internal support on a regular basis.The Java Developer will have experience in implementing applications within the Cards Management area and will join a team of experienced professionals responsible for the provision, availability, and, operations of our production systems and processes.The Java Developer will be based in Malaysia and reports directly to the Business Leads who are based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.Roles and Responsibilities:
    • Java Developer role needs to design and implement custom development applications and interfaces for clients.
    • Write robust code that adheres to defined standards and raises the bar with respect to quality.
    • Specify and manage Java enhancements to be implemented under change management control.
    • Develop and maintain client relationships, requiring deep technical and functional expertise.
    • Be able to travel locally and overseas.
    • Provide assistance with production support on a regular basis.
    • This Java Developer role is able to provide 1st and 2nd level of support across all supported applications, developing resolutions for customer issues based on product and industry knowledge.
    • The Java Developer is able to adopt existing support processes and ensure that production systems remain operational.
    • Incident management, problem management, and problem resolution.
    • Troubleshooting application issues in a production environment.
    • Java Developer able to work 24 x 7 standby support (rotating basis).
    • The Java Developer role able to perform assignments as given by the Lead.
    Essential Skills:
    • Proficiency in modern programming languages like Java / J2EE / COBOL
    • Be able to develop using multi-language programming (Java, COBOL & C language)
    • Experience with development and deployment on a Unix platform
    • Knowledge of DBMS of DB2 or Oracle
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Can work independently
    • Be able to continuously improve on technical knowledge and be keen to learn
    • Knowledge of credit/debit card business processing is an advantage
    • Knowledge of database / Unix is the advantage
    • To assist Project Manager in providing technical consultancy in project/CR
    • Ability to create project work breakdown and status reporting
