Job Description

Lead Engineer Mechanical - Engineering Support IN, Chennai | Professional | Full-Time | ID: 11482Vestas is the world leader in wind technology and a driving force in the development of the wind power industry. Come and Join us at Vestas!Service Operations, Regional Operations, ASP, WTG Engineering IndiaRegional Operations Support which is a part of ASP SBU, providing Technical Support to Service & Constructions related to SCADA, Blades, BoP, and WTG Engineering.Responsibilities

  • Technical support on all the general mechanical components and including drive-train support including and not limited to gearboxes, oil analysis, bearings, mechanical endoscopes, and condition monitoring
  • Secure technical know -how within the group on hydraulic units (pitch system), oil analysis, main shaft arrangement, blade bearings, torque arms, transmission systems, rotating unit, yaw gears and yaw bearings, bolts & torques
  • Act as one voice towards the global organisation on the Technical issues, and be a single point contact for the R&D and Service/Construction organisation
  • Ability to translate the technical issues into a business case and support SBU on the continuous improvements
  • Contribute through technical projects in the cost out journey
  • Technical documentation
  • Remote Service support to Technicians on field
  • Creating high level technical reports i.e., root cause analysis, inspection & Serious incident report if need
  • Data collection, analysis and root cause investigations
  • Handling technical projects
Qualifications
  • Bachelors / Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10-15 years of technical experience
  • Wind turbine knowledge/experience preferred
  • Project Management experience (as project participant or project manager) is added advantage
  • Six Sigma certification is added advantage
Competencies
  • Solid experience in maintenance engineering of hydraulic systems, gearboxes and bearings essential
  • Mechanical background specialized in gearboxes combined with professional experience on industrial maintenance and R&D will be preferred
  • Mechanical background specialized in drive-train and hydraulics combined with professional experience in industrial maintenance and R&D will be preferred
  • Proven knowledge on gears, bearings, mechanical condition monitoring, endoscope and oil analysis knowledge is must
  • Experience with Blades and Towers is added advantage
  • Good communication skills and high technical level, and good English
  • Innovative analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a complex environment
  • Excellent Time/Project Management skills
