Software EngineerPosting Location : Location CA-ON-RemotePosting date 23 hours ago(12/7/2021 8:29 AM)Job ID 92425 Workday ID R-019587 About the job The Red Hat Open Source Java Development team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will participate in Java Monitoring tooling development. Java Flight Recorder is a tool for collecting diagnostic and profiling data about Java applications, and JDK Mission Control is a tool that provides a frontend to visualize and analyze this data. Red Hat is a key contributor to these projects and is looking for an engineer to assist in developing them further. Youll collaborate with developers from around the world and help us promote open source solutions into the mainstream by making high-quality, low-cost technology more accessible. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business. What you will do

  • Be part of a Java engineering team responsible for developing next generation instrumentation, profiling, monitoring, and management tools for OpenJDK
  • Work on development in the open source Java community; collaborate, with developers within Red Hat, JBoss, and around the world
  • Build solutions to improve instrumentation, profiling, monitoring, and managing tools for cloud-based Java applications
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  • Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and product designers to shape, build, and improve new and existing features
  • Build a personal brand and promote the company brand through technical blog posts and open source contributions
What you will bring
  • 3+ years of Java application development experience
  • Bachelors degree in a technical field; an engineering or computer science background is preferred
  • Motivated; ability to work with minimal supervision
The following will be considered a plus:
  • Proficiency in C and C++
  • Knowledge of JVM internals
  • Experience working in the open source Java community
  • Familiarity with open source development, projects, and distributed development teams
