Unified Communications Engineer - IT CollaborationLocation Remote GermanyPosting date 1 hour ago(4/23/2021 10:49 AM)Job ID 82784 Category Information Technology Job summary The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a Unified Communications Engineer to join us. In this role, you will support mission-critical unified communication and collaboration services for Red Hat, including voice, video, chat, mail, and calendar systems. You ll be responsible for communication standards development, implementation of best practices, project planning, management, and daily communications maintenance and support. As a Unified Communications Engineer, you will identify, prioritize, and resolve critical communication and collaboration-related issues that impact business operations. In addition, you will proactively seek to communicate solutions to users and key stakeholders and highlight transitions to preferred emerging technologies that can be used to improve the overall health of the company s communication and collaboration strategy. Primary job responsibilities

• Provide services for all enterprise business locations
• Be responsible for strategic planning and management of vendor performance and processes
• Define support requirements, perform total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, and analyze other relevant data elements
• Provide leadership for all project activities and daily unified communications support
• Negotiate communications contracts in conjunction with the contract managers to coordinate implementation, service contracts, and equipment acquisitions; track vendor performance against contract compliance
• Provide critical Level 2 and 3 communications support to all locations on a 24/7 basis
• Develop, communicate, and maintain communication standards for all enterprise teams
• Work with technical teams to ensure that hardware and software infrastructure is maintained with latest firmware and software requirements
• Proactively communicate the status, plans of action, and resolutions of issues
• Monitor and report the performance of communications components against KPIs and take preemptive measures to minimize interruptions
• Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for improving the overall network health by assessing overall effectiveness and efficiency
• Evaluate new technologies and platforms to determine whether their applicability aligns with businesses needs
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed

Required skills

• Bachelors degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience working in unified communications, IT, and project and business process management
• Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices
• Excellent knowledge of one or more communication systems like RingCentral, BlueJeans, Zoom, etc.
• Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and internet standards, including SIP, TCP/IP, RTMP, DHCP, BOOTP, TLS, and XMPP
• Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience with Poly, Logitech, and AudioCodes
• Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits
• IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) experience
• Solid interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to conduct research into networking issues and offerings as required
• Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
• Highly motivated and organized with keen attention to detail
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Solid customer service orientation
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

The following are considered a plus:

• Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) certification
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Open source contributions
• Agile or lean experience
• Networking, IP routing, or VLAN knowledge
• Experience with mass mailers like Eloqua, Mailgun, or Mailchimp
