* Job Summary We re looking for an experienced UX Consultant who is passionate about user experience design and wants to help shape the development of Caterpillar digital solutions. The role will be creating solutions for customer-facing products, as well as integrating with existing design standards. You will primarily work alongside a dynamic team of designers, business and marketing experts collaborating to create solutions resulting in amazing user experiences. You will also team with engineers, analysts, product owners, marketers, and others to ensure a successful product for both our business and our customers.You love design and human behaviors, and have strong feelings about how form and function support each other. Bad user interface sticks out like a sore thumb to you, and you find yourself brainstorming better experiences for products you use. You re an advocate for clean, beautiful UI, and you champion writing and design that supports both the content and the user.You have years of experience living and breathing UX, and have held positions as a UX Consultant, UX Designer, Information Architect, Content Strategist, or something similar. You can immediately identify holes in a user flow, and maybe even have some experience creating functional specs or wireframes.You enjoy working through the details of complex problems, love logic puzzles, and relish the challenge of untying impossible knots. You re good at following a process, but flexible enough to recognize when you just need to get the job done regardless of process. You enjoy being in the thick of things, handling multiple projects and tasks at once, and know how to effectively manage your time and prioritize your projects. You are good at identifying what information is needed to do your job, and are not shy about reaching out to people you don t know yet to get the answers. You take initiative and feel a strong sense of ownership, not just for your deliverables, but for the quality of the entire product. You re comfortable inserting yourself into discussions that are important to your work, and if you don t see a metaphorical seat at the table, you pull one up without hesitation. Key responsibilities Coordinates development of new products and improvements to existing products or product lines. Evaluates and ensures design flexibility and optimization. The consultant reviews with CX architect on key strategic decisions.The individual is responsible for managing moderate complexity and work with the CX Architect while proposing solution that impact systems/ programs larger than the solution.Along with overseeing the project, these professionals often play a hands-on role by assisting in the design responsibilities to ensure the project is completed in the established time frame. This can include responsibility for specific design functions through each stage of the project, as well as reviewing the work of other team members and making changes to ensure the project is completed accurately.Should be capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other leads/ departments. The ideal candidate traits Someone who loves research, and has strong feelings about designing solutions that make a difference. The only thing that rivals their passion for research is the passion for great user experiences. They must be good with documentation of their work in a clear and concise way. They should take initiative and be good at identifying what information is needed to do their job, and are not shy about reaching out to people they don t know yet to get the answers. They take initiative and feel a strong sense of ownership, not just for their deliverables, but for the quality of the entire product. Should be open to work in hours to accommodate the operations team and on a need basis with stakeholders on-site., * Qualification: UX Designer, Creative Strategist, Creative Technologist or more Skills: A passion for design and for creating elegant user experiences, along with the curiosity to leanr more about end usersStrong grammar, writing style, tone and voice is keyUnderstanding of good UX design practicesUnderstands how both research and design supports both the content and the user.Significant experience working with prototyping, creative problem solving, market analysis and user researchA deep understanding of UX and how research and design support each otherAbility to find the absolute shortest way to clearly communicate an ideaExperience following a style guide/ design systemComfort with working in pre-release builds/ wireframes, quick prototypingAdept at asking questions and tracking down answersStrong sense of initiative and follow-throughExtreme attention to detailStrong communication skillsKnowledge of Figma, Photoshop, Excel and Word. Knowledge about other design tools would be greatExperience with wireframes and contributing to writing functional specsRequired Qualifications:* Bachelor s degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum * 9 to 13 years of relevant work experience * Strong analytical skills.Desired Qualifications:* Master s degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.* In Depth Experience in Data Science.* Should have lead teams earlier with deep domain expertise in Python and Panda.Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO)EEO/AA Employer.
