Job Description

    Technology Infrastructure Services (TIS) is responsible for managing all infrastructure components, supporting business delivery projects and delivering TIS projects. The function is divided into six core disciplines:
    • Service - responsible for managing our Customers, Service Desk & proximity services, Incident & Problem Management and Application Infrastructure
    • Delivery Support - responsible for supporting the delivering of business change initiatives, which includes project, small works, environment management and other non BAU tasks
    • Technology Control responsible for protecting the Infrastructure Environment, includes Security Management, Risk and Audit Management, Change Management and Disaster Recovery
    • Architecture and Engineering responsible for Technology Architecture and engineering solutions, in line with Technology roadmaps
    • Operating Environment responsible for maintenance and fault resolution on Platforms, Storage, Messaging and Data Centre Services
    • Network & Voice responsible for maintenance and fault resolution on Network, Voice and Firewall, managing commercials and financials, and delivery of TIS projects, within technology domain
    The Platform team is made up of several key support areas for the business
    • Unix Server Support Responsible for 24x7x365 support day to day operation and management of the entire Unix, Linux and AIX Server Estate including virtualised environments
    • Virtualisation Core Support Responsible for 24x7x365 support day to day operation and management of the virtualisation infrastructure
    • Windows Server Support Responsible for 24x7x365 support day to day operation and management of the entire Windows Server Estate including virtualised environments. . This includes managing project delivery and day to day support of the underlying Dell/HP Hardware and Windows operating system as well as a significant amount of Virtualised infrastructure.
    • Engineering Delivery Responsible for enabling the business to make better use of their environment, providing process improvements, drive engineering design, product strategy and ensuring all Unix, Linux, AIX & Windows areas are able to provide effective support to the business
    Purpose of your roleThis technical role will require the incumbent to work on engineering activities, projects and to help develop the systems infrastructure to meet the Windows Server Core Support team needs. The incumbent will be part of a Global team responsible for the engineering activities, engineering of Windows Server Images 2016, 2019. The role will be a combination of scripting, automation, This will involve liaison at all levels within the Information Systems and Business Communities. Individual will be expected to be dynamic, flexible, energetic, willing to take responsibility, structured, process oriented and happy working to tough deadlines in a demanding environment.The main components used within the team to provide these services are as follows:
    • Windows Server 2012 / 2016 / 2019
    • Cloud (Azure / Amazon)
    • Scripting using PowerShell, Terraform, etc.
    • Windows Failover Cluster
    • Windows server Update Server (WSUS) & SCCM for Patching
    • Windows IIS
    • System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) for monitoring
    • System Center Orchestrator & Jenkins for automation
    Your Key Accountabilities
    • Provide Engg & technical support for complex issues related to Microsoft 2008 / 2012 / 2016 / 2019 Server environment including 3rd party and Microsoft applications like SCCM, SCOM, VMWare, and other bespoke business applications
    • Strong automation skill with PowerShell and have experience to automate the daily work
    • Create automation workflow using CI/CD concepts and tools like Jenkins, Terraform, etc.
    • Installation and configuration of Windows Operating system and hardware to corporate standards
    • Participate in and manage technical projects
    • Ensures all changes to the environment are covered by appropriate Change Control process/procedures.
    • Working closely with other areas in the Platform Core and Services Group to understand future production requirements and delivering systems to meet these
    • Ensuring operational security and standards are strictly maintained at all times.
    • Maintain and develop relationships with the platform teams, and service providers to the Windows platform
    • Cultivate and foster relationships with other team and departments within Fidelity
    • Monitor issues and provide management reports on incidents and problem management
    • Ensure all activities are compliant with security and regulatory requirements
    Technical Engineering
    • Act as technical lead or representative in Wintel based project activities, including the development and deployment of new tools and technologies
    • Keep abreast of new initiatives, technologies and hardware specifications
    • Attend VMware, Intel, Dell, Microsoft, Citrix, and other vendors business briefings and / or workshops on Wintel with the view on how new products and operating practices could be adopted by TIS
    • Provide Windows related technical guidance and assistance to management, the team and the business, as required
    Experience and QualificationsTechnical
    • Overall 12-15 Years of experience in Windows Servers, Failover Cluster, PowerShell, SCCM, SCOM, etc.
    • Position requires candidate to be a full-time graduate in IT stream. Preference will be given to candidates with Engineering background (BE/B. Tech/M. Tech) from a primer institute.
    • Hands on experience of Windows Server Operating systems i.e. Windows Server 2008 / 2012 / 2016 / 2019 is essential.
    • Engg activities around the Windows Server images.
    • Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems Troubleshooting and Support.
    • Experience in supporting Microsoft Clusters, IIS, PowerShell, is essential
    • Experience in PowerShell (Advance Level) scripting.
    • Experience with Cloud Technologies Like Azure and Amazon.
    • Experience of CI/CD, Jenkins and Terraform.
    • Understanding of Active Directory concept and Experience in AD, Group Policy Management ,
    • Experience in Windows Server patching and compliance using tools like WSUS & SCCM is essential.
    • Experience of NetBackup, SCCM, SCOM, and O365 desirable
    • Experience in supporting in Hardware issues on Dell/HP servers is essential.
    • Experience with SQL Server, VMWare ESX5.x, Citrix XenApp 6.x is desirable
    • Candidate must be well orientated with Network, Security and Storage technologies,
    • Cloud Certification for Azure or Amazon is essential.
    • Preference will be given to candidates with Microsoft or other technical certification like VCP (VMWARE), CCA/CCAA (XenApp 5/6) or CCEE certifications.
    • Candidate must possess an Engineering degree/diploma (BE/B. Tech/BCA etc) in Computer Science/Information Technology/Electronics from a recognized college/university.
    Non-Technical
    • ITIL Ver3.0 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management is desirable
    • Experience in the implementation of Solutions to Operations and Projects
    • Analytical and insightful mindset prepared to challenge opinions and approaches to establish suitable solutions
    • Excellent analytical, problem solving & communication skills
    • Service oriented, ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
    • Organised with good attention to detail
    • Experience within Banking or Finance related business and experience working with large distributed systems strongly recommended
    • Strong communication skills and Dynamic / flexible team player
    • Required to work in shifts on a rotational basis.
    • Natural inclination to share knowledge and disseminate information throughout all project phases with particular attention to handover education
    • A Can Do attitude and a high level of commitment to customer service
    • Ability to re-prioritise and organise rapidly to respond to changing business requirements
    • Awareness of the impact of change to the business environment, and to support teams
    • Ability to communicate technical issues in non-technical terms to business people
    • Happy to work at Fidelity sites across the UK and/or India
    • Good problem solving, documentation and presentation skills
    • To take part in weekly cover rota, including out of hours on call support, as required
