Job Description

    Schneider Electric has an opportunity for an Embedded Firmware Engineer in our Hyderabad, Telangana location.Seeking an experienced firmware engineer for our Process Instrumentation R&D team. This position is focused on the design and maintenance of embedded firmware for Pressure, Positioner, and other measurement devices. The role of our Firmware Engineers encompass a broad range of the development processes: writing a specification from requirements, participating in specification reviews, providing estimates, writing the code, performing unit tests, performing code reviews of other developer s code, and working with testers.Effective collaboration is essential so participation in daily stand-up (short, status) meetings is required as well as planning and retrospective meetings.Our Firmware Engineers demonstrate a passion for problem solving, and attention to detail.     • - Interact with product owner, development teams and stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of the product requirements.
    • - Evaluate and validate embedded design alternatives to create optimum system designs.
    • - Hands on code implementation / debugging / development and testing of devices.
    • - Write and execute Test Cases based on templates and best practices.
    • - Collaborate effectively with different functional teams spread across multiple locations
    • - Work closely with verification and validation (test) team to ensure full test coverage, and quick closure of reported firmware defects.
    • - Develop scalable solutions that adhere to performance specifications and align with customer needs.
    On September 9, 2021, U.S. Executive Order 14042 was issued, requiring all who are working in connection with federal contracts to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or have a company-approved medical or religious exemption. Since the Order was issued, the District Court of Georgia has placed a legal hold on the Mandate s vaccine requirements in all states nationwide.     • Engineering degree (Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Robotics or related discipline)
    • 3+ years experience in development of electro-mechanical products and concepts with electronic subsystems, embedded firmware, communication protocols, and IoT applications interfaces
    • Strong programming skills including common object oriented and scripting languages (C, C++, Python, PowerShell, etc.)
    • Demonstrate ability to work with cross functional and global teams, with the ability to align and bring best in class processes, coding standards etc.
    • Knowledge of embedded hardware systems (Microprocessors, FPGA, CPLD Memories, etc.)
    • Experience developing embedded products using real time operating systems (RTOS)
    • Expertise with embedded development tools (ex. IAR, Visual Studio, Lint, Klocwork, . etc.)
    • Hands on device testing and debugging microcontroller systems and serial (UART) using debuggers such as JTAG, SWD, and tools such as protocol analyzers, exercisers, logic analyzers, etc.
    • Good understanding of product development and verification methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Lean) and tools such as Azure Devops, Jira etc.
    • Solid understanding of good firmware design principles and coding standards (Embedded C, MISRA2004/2012, etc) and best practices for safe/secure software development.
    • Strong understanding of firmware testing methodologies and interest in continuous improvement in this area.
    • Strong analytical and logical reasoning ability possessing good judgment and interpersonal skills.
    Nice to Have:
    • Networking background with knowledge in TCP/IP, Wireless radio and application security
    • Able to develop device drivers when given datasheets and product schematics.
    • Work with 3rd party companies to successfully integrate frameworks into unified solutions.
    • Experience with USB, Serial communications, CAN, MODBUS, Zigbee, etc.
    • Experience reviewing or designing electrical circuits, including understanding schematics and performing Diagnostic tasks with various tools such as logic analyzers or oscilloscopes.
    • Experience developing battery powered devices
    • Experience with wireless protocols: Zigbee, BLE, Thread, 802.15.4, etc.
    • Experience in quick prototyping platforms like arduino, raspberry pi etc.
