SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe software V&V Engineer II will be a member of the Engineering R&D team, will be responsible for software verification and validation during the development lifecycle of complex electro-mechanical medical devices. The individual will be a part of professional Software V&V team and will work closely with software development & V&V engineers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work within the Medtronic-Covidien R&D engineering team to develop and support the launch and next-generation robotically assisted minimally invasive surgical platform.
• Focus on graphical user interface software development.
• Translate written requirements into a well-designed implementation.

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

• Reports to the Sr. Engineering Supervisor/Engineering Manager
• Accountable to Project Manager(s) for project-related responsibilities
• Consult with internal stakeholders to determine the scope of software development projects.
• Collaborating with the software development team on application design and development.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• EXPERIENCE
• 6+ years of experience as SW V&V Engineer with test automation capability.
• KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY
• The Software V & V Engineer would be responsible for:
  • Executing/ Leading Verification and validation testing of embedded, real-time software, including the development of test plans and procedures.
  • Participating in design reviews and code inspections and will support the development of documentation required for FDA device approval.
  • Participation in other quality assurance functions, including, but not limited to, process audits, static code analysis, risk/hazard analysis, and test automation development.
  • Defining of new product (Software), implementing operational profiles, preparing for test, executing test, and guiding the test.
  • Support the qualification of third-party software components and tools used for software development and verification/validation
  • Advise and confer with engineers in design review meetings to give findings and recommendations on improvement of software quality.
• Experience with modern software testing tools and methods
• Experience in writing test protocols from requirements
• Knowledge of best practice in software testing positive, negative, corner cases
• Experience in developing the automation tests in LabVIEW, NI Test stand
• 3 rd party tool validation preferably in Medical devices domain
• Experience with Requirements Management tools, configuration management tools and embedded software development tools (integrated development environments, debuggers, etc.).
• Good written and oral communication skills to effectively update status, risks, dependencies.
• Knowledge of system engineering and the ability to understand embedded software and programmable logic risk assessment from a system perspective.
• Good to have knowledge on scripting tools like Python, Perl etc.
• Experience working with interfaces such RS-232, USB , WIFI , TCP/IP
• Hands on experience in using measurement equipment like Millimeter, Oscilloscope, Function generator etc.
• Experience in troubleshoot and debugging issues
• Experience with both manual and automated testing
• Familiarity with FDA regulations and recommended practices, especially regarding software.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304 and other relevant industry standards
• Familiarity with National Instruments test hardware
• Self-learning capabilities
• EDUCATION
• Required: - B.E or B.Tech in Computers , Electronics or Electrical.
• Preferred: - M.E or M.Tech in Computers , Electronics or Electrical.
