We provide customers a fully integrated service with instant access to millions of movies, TV shows, magazines, newspapers, books, songs, apps, and games.The Alexa Data Services team (ADS) is part of Amazon s speech platform organization that provides speech recognition capabilities for a variety of Amazon products and searches, most visibly, the Amazon Echo product.As a SysDE, you develop technology solutions to business and customer problems. You solve complex problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices. Your solutions are testable, maintainable, and efficient. You understand the system architecture and you make appropriate design, technical trade-off decisions at application level. Through automation/technical innovation, you impact positively the performance, scalability, reliability, or availability of a product/system/service. You work to resolve the root cause of complex problems leveraging your cross-domain understanding of the technology involved in your systems. You automate and simplify development, test, and operational processes.The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for working on behalf of the customers and have the ability to operate independently, autonomously and able to manage ambiguity. In addition to the technical skills, maturity, judgment, communication skills, negotiation skills and influencing skills are all essential as you interact with cross functional teams worldwide. Can deal with ambiguity; work with minimum supervision., Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field 2+ years of system/software development experience Experience in Programming Languages (Java/Python/Ruby, etc.), Web technologies, cloud/AWS. Ability to understand functional/technical specifications and analyze data Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive. Effective analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Strong organizational and problem solving skills with great attention to detail, including the ability to track multiple test executions simultaneously and synthesize the results Experience with enterprise-wide systems Experience influencing engineers best practices within your team Experience building and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems or web services with a high degree of operational excellence A strong understanding of system performance and scaling Well-honed troubleshooting skills at various levels of complexity A strong understanding of operating system internals, including network and storage subsystems Experience with relational and nonrelational database systems Experience developing on Linux and using AWS services Experience delivering projects in a fast-paced, highly collaborative work environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills
