Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for applying full knowledge of Health and Safety practices and standards. Provides knowledge of moderately complex issues, solutions and problems through the following areas of focus.

  • Development and implementation of Health and Safety strategy,
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of Health and Safety results,
  • Shaping of the internal Health and Safety culture and management of the External Health and Safety brand.
  • Provide basic understanding of Health and Safety practices and standards across all Health and Safety areas or within a specific area of focus (e.g., compliance, audit).
Basic Function Complexity Differentiation:Full knowledge of Environment, Health and Safety Practices and Standards. Moderately complex issues/ problems/ solutions.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:1: DEVELOP HEALTH AND SAFETY STRATEGY (Percentage 30)
  • Assesses reasonably complex Health and Safety risks and opportunities using full knowledge of Health and Safety practices and standards (including current and short-term future regulatory requirements) and potential impacts on stakeholder (customer, community, interest groups, employees) priorities, or enterprise/ business/location Strategy.
  • Supports efforts to ensure deep understanding and achieve support of the approved Health and Safety strategy, or relevant parts of the approved Health and Safety strategy, from internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Internally, this includes contributing to collaboration with a variety of other functions.
  • Externally, this may include contributing efforts to educate and to negotiate approvals or permits with regulating bodies, develop support among stakeholders including community or activist groups, customers, and work with external consultants.
2: IMPLEMENT HEALTH AND SAFETY STRATEGY (Percentage 30)
  • Leads or assists in the development of programs and processes involving interpretation and variation to execute Health and Safety strategy in a manner appropriate to the technology, scope and maturity of the team/area.
  • Frequently, benchmarks internally and externally to identify best practices of others, consistent with and in support of the Health and Safety strategy, that can be applied effectively.
  • With minimal supervision, identifies and implements changes to support continuous improvement of moderately complex Health and Safety programs and processes.
3: MAINTAIN AND CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE HEALTH AND SAFETY RESULTS (Percentage 20)
  • Provides operational/tactical leadership to moderately complex Health and Safety audit, inspection and risk assessment processes.
  • With limited supervision, adopts Health and Safety auditing and risk assessment standards and expands as appropriate.
  • Using full knowledge of Health and Safety practices and standards, reviews and analyzes audit results requiring some interpretation, to confirm that the corporate, business and government Health and Safety standards are met.
  • With limited supervision, analyzes moderately complex processes and data to identify trends and isolate root causes. Supports process to ensure that appropriate follow-up actions are being 10implemented.
  • Through existing systems, enters complex and varied measures and data according to corporate and Business Unit Health and Safety standards.
  • Monitors and anticipates short-term change in the external environment, including regulations, science, and stakeholder positioning. Assesses applicability and impact within and beyond immediate scope of responsibility. Provides recommendation on tactics to address/support change.
4: BUILD INTERNAL HEALTH AND SAFETY CULTURE (Percentage 10)
  • Builds effective working relationships with senior-level employees in order to obtain/sustain a strong Health and Safety culture.
  • Supports leaders to implement reasonably complex portions of internal communications strategy for Employees/Stakeholders that builds and maintains awareness of Health and Safety values, strategies, and performance; Shares best practices and key learnings; develops talent; and recognizes high performance.
  • Supports leaders to promote proactive workplace Health and Safety practices. Using full knowledge of Health and Safety practices and standards, provides technical, regulatory and behavioural consultation and support required to build a strong Health and Safety culture.
  • Designs and delivers reasonably complex training solutions related to Health and Safety issues, practices and risks. Requires full knowledge of Health and Safety practices and standards.
  • With limited direction from more senior team members, develops and implements recognition programs to acknowledge positive behaviour and celebrate successes on topics of Health and Safety.
5: MANAGE HEALTH AND SAFETY BRAND (Percentage 10)
  • Participates in relevant external EHS professional business and industry organizations.
  • Guides senior-level employees on specific customer and community concerns related to moderately complex Health and Safety topics and equips them with the information and tools they need to accurately represent Organisation on Health and Safety topics.
  • Frequently consults with teams as well as external organizations to stay informed of external Health and Safety matters facing community and customers.
  • Provides operational/ tactical leadership to meet and exceed the expectations,

Required Candidate profileQUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE,
  • Possesses a Degree in any branch of Engineering or Technology of a University established by law and has had practical experience of working in a factory in a supervisory capacity in production or maintenance or Safety.
  • 5-12 Years of Exp. in manufacturing industry.
SKILLS:
  • Have knowledge of ISO 45001 & 45002 and ISO14001.
