Job Description

    Organisation: The Queens Commonwealth Trust Job Title: Grants & Organisational Development Manager, India Reports to: Head of Grants and Organisational Development / (CEO in Interim) Relationships: Young Leaders, Partner Organisations, QCT staff team in particular the Organisational Assessment & Development Manager and the Grants & Financial Development Manager, and Trustees Location: India, with travel primarily in Asia, but some across Commonwealth Line Reports: None Job Context We are a lean, entrepreneurial team working with an inspiring network of young leaders across the globe. Job Purpose :- The Grants & Organisational Development Manager will provide practical support to help strengthen the capacity of organisations funded by QCT in India.- The Grants & Organisational Development Manager will bring strong expertise in working with grassroots organisations and social entrepreneurs, providing management consultancy services to strengthen organisations, and ideally experience of all aspects of the grant-making and management process. Undertaking participatory organisational assessments before working with new partners in India, the Grants & Organisational Development Manager will then help to strengthen the organisations.- The Grants & Organisational Development Manager will also take a key role in running programmatic funding rounds in India, and in particular, leading on the systems set-up and management as well as managing the relationship with the providers and due diligence and participatory organisational assessments that are part of QCTs programmatic process. Responsibilities: Programmes: - Provide relationship management and organisational development advice and support to those funded by QCT. This would primarily be provided remotely but on occasion in person.- Undertake Due Diligence (DD) and participatory Organisational Assessments (OA) in India, with a view to the latter informing subsequent practical advice and support / Technical Assistance.- Lead on some programmatic funding rounds including the whole programmatic grants life cycle, from application, through to selection, contracting, fund disbursement, reporting, and implementation through to grant closure.- Develop and deliver training for QCT either directly, or indirectly through third parties, to young leaders being funded to ensure appropriate growth and development of knowledge, understanding and capability.- Work with those team members and consultants to ensure effective provision and application of Safeguarding, Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and Financial Management organisational development.- Undertake site visits periodically during the year, for those receiving QCT funds in India, with the potential to expand this in due course. Other: - Work closely with the Head of Operations & Finance to ensure robust information management when working with programmatic partners.- Provide strategic inputs and reflection to QCT team to help inform how QCT should evolve. Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience: - Experience of working with grassroots organisations to strengthen their systems including governance, financial management, MEL, safeguarding, risk and others, in particular in the developing world, and familiarity with typical organisational challenges.- Experienced due diligence and organisational assessment practitioner with strong understanding and experience of effectively and efficiently undertaking and documenting.- Experience of grant and fund management life cycle components, ideally from application, through to selection, contracting, fund disbursement, reporting, and implementation through to grant closure.- Experience of managing consultants and teams, working remotely and internationally with individuals in different countries. - Qualified chartered accountant with at least 3 years of audit experience. - Organisational development experience with at least 5 years of consulting experience.- Understand international development funders, actors, and recent sectoral thinking. Personal qualities: - Excellent interpersonal skills, able to empathise, listen and communicate effectively and with clarity and humility to the full range of stakeholders from beneficiaries internationally to QCT colleagues and trustees.- Demonstrate strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to work well under pressure, prioritise workload and to meet tight deadlines.- Demonstrate high level of self-motivation, action-oriented and with initiative in particular to enable delivery when working remotely.- Demonstrate strong value-set that aligns with QCTs values (collaboration, integrity, optimism, respect and responsiveness).- Interest in supporting young people to be effective change makers in their communities. Nice to have: - Experience of working with social enterprises.- Experience of business strategy development, including supporting organisations through the growth cycle through accessing equity and debt funding.Technical Competencies:- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other commonly used office packages.- Knowledge of relevant due diligence guidance, including latest guidance from the UK Government (DFID/FCDO) and UK Charity Commission an advantage.,
