Global Finance & Business Management ( GF&BM ) India is a combined LOB-aligned (Line of Business-aligned) finance & business support team located in India and is part of JPMorgan s global capability center (GCC). We are part of the Office of the CFO (OCFO) organization within JPMorgan, which has 13000+ people across the globe, majority of whom are tasked with managing the firm s Finance function, responsible for reporting quarterly earnings and complying with regulatory requirements along with managing the firm s capital. GF&BM India was established in September 2002 and currently we have a network of more than 3400+ professionals based out of our Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad offices who support four main pillars of work - Controllers, Planning & Analysis, Finance Operations and Business Client & Products. The teams in India are aligned to the respective LOBs that they support which include Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB), Commercial Banking (CB), Consumer and Community Banking (CCB), Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) and Corporate/Firmwide functions.We have a strong culture that embodies the principles that guide us in how we do business across the firm. The current opening is within the Payments Product Control - External & Internal Reporting Team in Mumbai which forms part of the CIB LOB within GF&BM India. About the Team Payments is a sub-LOB within the CIB. J.P. The Product Controller team is an integral component of the CIB Finance & Business Management (F&BM) function, and is responsible for providing business advisory and accounting support, control oversight and integrity of the financial statements and transaction end-to-end control in support of the business. Responsibilities of this team include, but are not limited to, oversight of financial statement and management reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting policies including new business initiatives and product review, business performance control, business analytics and expense management. The External / Internal Reporting Team (within the Product Controller function) is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of financial reporting of LOB-specific financial information provided to the central reporting functions responsible for consolidation into firm-wide to both external (e.g. regulatory) and internal stakeholders. About the Role Primary Responsibilities: This position provides a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to gain a broad understanding across the Payments business and become a valued partner to the various Finance Teams within the F&BM function. The successful candidate will have strong accounting, communication, and teamwork skills which will be critical to developing strong partnerships across multiple functions and regions. The role is expected to drive global coordination across the regional product controller teams, including:
• Coordinate the preparation of monthly/quarterly regulatory reporting requirements (10Q/10K, Volcker, Reg W, etc.) through partnership with regional Product Controllers and Central CIB Reporting. Key submissions include loans, equity investment, Off Balance Sheet Reporting, Fair Value Measurement (FVM), etc.
• Ensure consistency in analyzing forecast and actual results; investigate discrepancies across regions and provide consolidated commentary on businesses.
• Organize product control participation related to control frameworks, including SOX, Risk & Control Self Assessment and Recovery & Resolution (R&R responsibilities are inclusive of BAU appendices review and annual plans including Sub-LOB, IDI and Object of Sale).
• The role requires communication with a broad range of counterparts and stakeholders across the regions, including accounting policy, product controllers, financial controllers, entity controllers, tax, legal, various project teams, and business control officers; strong relationship management skills are needed to be effective; expansion of personal networks is encouraged.
• The role also provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to work on efficiency improvement projects, process re-engineering and develop some project management experience.
• The external reporting environment is undergoing significant changes over the next few years and candidate will be involved in a broad number of new initiatives as a result.
Desired Candidate Profile:
• 2 - 4 years experience with accounting / financial services background
• Dynamic team player able to adapt to changing environment and multiple demands
• Enthusiastic self-starter; inquisitive/curious; desire to understand the big picture
• Proactive and willing to accept responsibility
• Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
• Banking experience and some understanding of payments is desirable, but not mandatory
• Excellent time management skills, being flexible to handle multiple tasks at the same time and prioritize the tasks in the order of importance
• Excellent technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including extensive experience using Excel and PowerPoint
• Controls focused and strong attention to detail is key
• Knowledge of Business Objects (CDGL) SAP, FDW, and ERA
• Keen focus on continuous process and reporting improvements
• Accounting qualification preferred but not essential
