Job Description

JOB TITLE: Country Data Science ManagerLOCATION: UniOps Bangalore MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

  • Work with the business leads to fully understand the business problem and how to deliver relevant insights that lead to actions.
  • Gathers, analyses, and model s data to solve complex business problems and evaluate scenarios to make
  • predictions on potential future outcomes and support decision making.
  • Supports building data and analytic capability in the market CCBT, Supply Chain, & CD teams (e.g. training on analytics and basic statistics).
  • Specifically, this role will focus on working on in-market business problems coming from CCBTs, CD, Supply Chain, and Marketing leadership. It will help identify common themes amongst CCBTs to build repeatable models against (e.g. improving pricing execution and SPI compliance) and partner with CD leadership to support 6P growth from retailer data, land global CD2020 programs requiring data and analytics, and / or advance the next phase of NRM.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Deliver the joint business plan priorities between ETS I&A and the market GMs (80% of capacity focused on CCBT opportunities, 20% flexible)
  • Build data-science and algorithmic solutions to address business problems requiring descriptive,
  • diagnostic, predictive, and / or prescriptive analytics
  • Position analytics as a tradable currency with retailers who the market is attempting to get new data

  • The position will be a manager role working closely with the business interpreter and CCBT, CD, and Marketing teams. There will have 1-2 Unilever FTEs reporting into this role, and there may be third party contractors this role is accountable for (Fractal, or other potential local companies).
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • B.S. or M.S. in a relevant technical field (Operations Research, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Econometrics, or Mathematics). Overall experience of 5+ years preferred
  • Strong track record in solving analytical problems using quantitative and statistical approaches
  • Expert knowledge in one or more of the following: marketing analytics, recommendation engines, forecasting, and NLP.
  • Expert knowledge working with and coding in python, databricks, and Microsoft Azure Machine Learning
  • Ability to manipulate and analyse complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources (Nielsen, SAP, Retailer ePOS; both structured and non-structured data)
  • Experienced knowledge working with large data sets, experience working with distributed computing
  • tools a plus (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive)
  • Experienced knowledge with relational and columnar databases SQL is a plus
  • Passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data
  • Ability to apply an agile analytic approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative insights in a precise, and actionable manner
