Job Description

  • Primarily responsible for assessing and monitoring credit risks associated with the portfolio assigned, ensuring high credit quality of the portfolio.
  • Work closely with the Relationship Managers ( RM ) and play an instrumental role in deal structuring. Expected to value add and advice the deal team from a credit/policy perspective.
  • Support RMs on credit applications and timely renewals, facilitating revenue growth on the portfolio assigned.
  • Adherence to the Bank s policies and standards including compliance of the Group Code of Conduct.
Business
  • Supports the Client Coverage Team in meeting Revenue and Financial Performance Targets for CCIB by facilitating and supporting business growth without compromising on credit quality.
ProcessesGeneral function of a Credit Analyst including but not limited to the following:-
  • Preparing and submitting credit applications. Undertaking periodic reviews on clients portfolio as assigned. Providing insightful, relevant, succinct and timely (see below) credit analysis on the portfolio (current or prospective) and support RMs in preparing pre-deal assessments and/or clearances.
  • Responsibilities include business and industry analysis, financial modelling and projections, scoring and proposing counterparty credit grades, continuous monitoring and escalation of credit-material events, stress testing etc. Ensuring credit underwriting meets and complies with all regulatory and internal policies and standards.

  • Timely achieving the required Credit Certification(s) as per Bank s standard (as required).

  • Adhering to the Group Code of Conduct on Gifts and Entertainment Policy, Cross Border Activities etc.
Risk Management
  • Upholding credit quality and active risk management of portfolio.
  • Actively engaging with Credit and deliver the following:-
  • Deals turnaround and/ or delivery within TAT.
  • Quality credit write-ups with minimal referrals by credit managers and/ or approvers.
  • Timely submissions of credit applications/ credit reviews, maintaining total overdues not exceeding 5%.
  • Minimal credit reviews deferral/ extension, in which case, shall not exceed 30 days.
  • Pro-active setting and monitoring of loan covenants and/or risk triggers - any breach to be appropriately escalated and addressed.
  • Timely identification and reporting deteriorating credits in Early Alert ( EA ) and to ensure no non-EA downgrade directly to Group Special Asset Management ( GSAM ).
  • Stay up todate and comply to the changes in credit policies, standards & processes.
  • Be audit ready at all times.
Governance
  • Compliance and adherence to all internal and regulatory policies and standards.
  • All Stress Tests are to be appropriately carried out, as required.
  • Timely completion of all e-learnings, as required.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Uphold the Bank s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance etc.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Key Stakeholders
  • Support Client Coverage in developing and executing their client strategies. Provide credit analysis and address credit related matters for Client Coverage and Risk teams.
  • Active and iterative discussions with both Client Coverage and Risk around credit analysis, key industry and geographical trends and risks, as well as setting of covenants, risk triggers etc.
  • To value add by proactively sharing ideas with Client Coverage on potential business opportunities for the Bank.
  • Assist both Client Coverage and Risk in transaction structuring and execution as well as identifying and alerting stakeholders of emerging risks as they arise.
  • Work closely with product partners e.g. FM/ TB/ DCM etc and other cross function teams e.g. O&G, Shipping, Aviation, CRE, LAF, LSS etc.
Other Responsibilities
  • Critical review of Environment and Social Risk Assessments, Fraud Risk etc;
  • Consistent and coherent review of the Approved Account Plan, Risk Analytics Pricing Tool for Optimized Returns ( Raptor or equivalent), Client Group Exposures, Facility Structure (including Terms and Conditions);
  • Active partnership with RMs in completing the Risk Profile, Compliance Details as well as proposing Covenants and Risk Triggers.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Degree in related fields with at least 5 years relevant experience either in banking, treasury or accounting environment.
  • Strong analytical skills focus on both qualitative and quantitative assessments including calibration of credit risk models/ financial projections. Ability to spot emerging risks and form a forward-looking industry view.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (in English), with proven ability to work across cultures and within a dynamic environment.
  • Able to hold credible dialogue at all levels of the organisation, as well as with clients.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting and financial principles gained through experience or qualification.
  • MBA or CFA qualifications would be advantageous, but not required.
  • Candidates with Professional Credit Certification (PCC) or Certified Credit Professional (CCP) would have added advantage.
  • Gravitas to actively engage with RMs, Risk teams and Clients alike and to challenge in a constructive manner.
