Job Description

  • Standard Chartered Bank is expanding its Market Risk IT team in 2021 to help support a number of major new initiatives in 2021. As part of this work the bank is looking to recruit experienced DevOps engineer to build up the existing team.
  • DevOps Engineer candidates should have a strong background on Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Deployment (CD), Containers and AWS.
  • Strong working experience in a DevOps and Agile teams is a must.
  • The candidate will be pragmatic, with a delivery focussed mindset and a desire to deliver constant business value through the effective use of technologies with a proven background in delivering high quality software.
  • In addition, the candidates will work closely with business stakeholders to deliver to exacting requirements working in a dynamic global team across multiple locations.
The Role Responsibilities
  • Responsible for design and implementation of DevOps that covers continuous integration, code scanning, automated testing, configuration management, release management, blue-green deployment, online collaboration, cloud hosting, and system monitoring.
  • Responsible for implementing Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines by working with the development team and SCB Enterprise DevOps team.
  • Champion DevOps innovations by introducing better tools and agile practices.
  • Ensure reports on code metrics (i.e. code quality, code coverage, security scanning etc) are in place.
Our Ideal CandidateDevOps and Software Engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge in scripting languages such as Linux shell and Groovy.
  • Strong knowledge in Source Control tool of Git, and GitFlow as the branching strategy.
  • Strong knowledge in CI/CD toolset such as Jenkins, BitBucket, JaCoCo, SonarQube, JIRA, Ansible and Artifactory.
  • Knowledge in Domain-Driven Design, Microservices Architecture, Micro-Frontend Architecture, REST API, Spring Boot.
  • Knowledge in Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as IntelliJ IDEA, VS Code.
  • Knowledge in databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle.
  • Knowledge in automated testing toolset such as jUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, Selenium etc.
  • Knowledge in log analysis tools such as ELK stack, Zipkin etc.
  • Knowledge in Authentication and Authorisation frameworks and tools, e.g. Kerberos, SSO, OUD, AD/LDAP, JWT, Spring Security.
  • Knowledge in Workflow Engine e.g. jBPM, Activiti.
  • Knowledge in Server Management, Networking, Virtualisation/Virtual Machine.
  • Knowledge in Containers and Container Platforms e.g. Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS EKS.
  • Knowledge in Big Data technologies e.g. Hadoop, HDFS, Spark.
  • Knowledge in Cloud Platforms e.g. AWS, Azure.
Experience
  • A Bachelor s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience in Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD).
  • Strong experience in agile methodologies and test-driven development.
  • Experience in software development using open source technologies.
  • Experience in automated software testing.
Change Knowledge
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies.
  • Good track record of communicating effectively with both business and IT staff at all levels.
  • Experience in promoting DevOps culture among developers and testers.
  • Good presentation skills.
Non-technical Skills
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment.
  • Highly effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to make good / sound decisions and use independent judgement.
  • Strong reasoning, analytical and inter-personal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management.
