Playing a meaningful role in trade verification, new product approval, reconciliation of the Firm s books & records and supporting regulatory obligations, the department offers interesting opportunities for a talented team. Derivative Post Trade Operations (DPTO) sits within Trading Operations and covers cross asset class OTC derivative trade confirmation functions.Role Description & ResponsibilitiesThe role in a Team Leader position in the Mumbai Cross Asset Class OTC Derivatives Drafting Team. The team looks after the production of documentation for OTC Derivative transactions traded by Morgan Stanley globally. It covers structured and vanilla products for Interest Rate, Credit, Equity, Commodities and FX Derivatives. It ensures that the trade representation in the confirmation matches Morgan Stanley s internal risk bookings. The team consists of a group of experienced derivative products SME s and it supports parts of the OTC Derivatives business across the globe. The team has a high focus on accurate and timely confirmation issuance in line with the CFTC and EMIR confirmations requirements. In addition, the team runs initiatives to standardize and streamline internal confirmation processes to increase accuracy, efficiency and reduce costs.The Team Lead role is a supervisory as well as SME position. It provides oversight over the risk management function of the team, through direct supervision as well as generation and evaluation of key risk and performance metrics. The role is responsible for ensuring timeliness, accuracy and completeness of all tasks performed by the team. It acts as initial contact for incoming and outgoing escalation for Operations Management, Sales, Trading, Legal and other control functions within the firm. As an SME the Team Leader plays a key role in ongoing process and system development and works closely with other global confirmation leads, business analysist and technology. The Team Leader is responsible for ongoing training and daily management of staff.Responsibilities

  • Oversight and supervision of control functions performed in the team, ensuring timely and accurate trade confirmations for the supported asset classes in accordance with ISDA and industry standards.
  • Generation and review of daily MIS and monitoring of team performance against key risk and performance indicators
  • Ongoing review and maintenance of the team s manuals and templates
  • Act as key contact for DPTO and Operations management as well as other drafting regions. First point of escalation
  • Provide documentation support to Institutional Sales and Trading, and Bank Resource Management on ad hoc deals and projects.
  • Provide SME support for the ongoing standardization and confirmation automation initiatives.
  • Research and resolve confirmation discrepancies through proactive communication with internal partners (Legal, Sales, Trading, Compliance) and external counterparties.
  • Identify risk issues, escalate where appropriate and actively assist in resolving them. Adopt and maintain stringent process controls to mitigate firm and client risk.
  • Organize own day to day tasks per functional procedures to ensure all priority tasks are completed within the established deadlines using the appropriate systems, tools and checklists.
, *Skills that you bring
  • Minimum of 8 years Banking Operations or equivalent relevant industry experience with exposure to financial products. Previous experience as supervisor.
  • Previous experience of confirmations drafting, trade support roles with exposure to trade life cycles, process flows and reconciliation with proven track record in managing and developing control functions.
  • Knowledge of OTC derivative products, ISDA standards, settlement processes and Drafting systems is preferable although training will be provided on the job.
  • Minimum Bachelor degree.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, strong ability to manage risk and perform controls while maintaining client service
  • Solid organization and communication skills
  • Strong teamwork ethic, whilst also having the ability and initiative to work individually, to complete tasks to high standards
  • Ability to work well within a team on a regional as well as global level and to build strong working relationships with and influence internal partners including Front Office and Legal.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, and/or other relevant application
