Data Centre of Excellence (Data COE) Managing the accuracy & timeliness of our data enables our businesses, helps us to make informed decisions and protects us from risk. Data Center of Excellence (COE) was formed to provide a focus on data as a key priority of Morgan Stanley s overall Strategy. Data COE sets standards and develop tooling for ownership, distribution and consumption of data and data accessibility. The frameworks developed by the team address data architecture and data quality issues for new and existing initiatives at the firm by collaborating heavily with various business units and technology functions in the firm.The team operates in a flat, agile structure and fosters a culture of collaboration and autonomy. Responsibilities: You will be leading a squad of technical BAs and business (conceptual) data modelers in the region that is part of the wider global Data COE team that is focused on designing the business meta data models. The meta data models describe the data different functions author and consumer and in turn is used to define rules to define who owns what, where it comes from and where it can go. The team works with Front-to-Back Business and Technology stakeholders to identify solutions to scale data management to facilitate better data governance / management across the firm and in turn create controls to manage the data according to the data rules put in place. The candidate will often be involved in several Data related projects covering risks such as data quality, transfer, privacy and protection.The candidate will be part of the global team with the following core responsibilities:Key responsibilities of this role are:
• Develop and manage a team of squad of technical BAs and business (conceptual) data modelers.
• Be the key coordinator between Asia team and the Global team to ensure a consistent modeling approach.
• Form a strong relationship with the development (tooling) team, also based in the region.
• Develop the conceptual business meta data model and incorporate into new/existing taxonomies and ontologies to support the definition and rules of F2B data solutions.
• Drive the development of data management / governance workflows / frameworks. Create associated user stories to drive tooling needs to support workflows.
• Engage with stakeholders like Quants, Front Office Risk, Finance Product Controllers etc. to establish data authorities, controls and ownership to support the clients cataloguing needs.
• Generate data quality metrics on catalogued data for senior stakeholder consumption ranging from governance committees to business units to audit
• Participate in data initiative calls to articulate the design gaps and develop data aligned meta data solutions.
• Analyze large sets of information, detect anomalies, raise relevant issues, identify patterns in the datasets and develop ML approaches to automate working closely with tooling
• Enhance the Data Culture of the firm by developing data management guidance covering key data policy principles of ownership, authority, data modeling/taxonomies.

• Bachelor s Degree with minimum 12+ years experience as a Data/Business Analyst
• Experience in leading teams in an agile environment, has acted as a Product Owner
• Sharp analytical, problem-solving skills with an emphasis on ownership, design and delivery
• Experience in business data modelling.
• Knowledge and experience in data governance (eg data quality/ controls, data ownership, data authorities etc),
• Knowledge of financial products / asset classes and their associated business processes
• Proficiency with SQL, ETL tools, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, knowledge of Collibra, data wrangling tools eg Dataiku
• Experience in development and management of user stories as part of an agile pipeline with the stakeholders and breakdown/translate for the developers.
• Strong communications and influencing skills; ability to distill complex topics into actionable strategies
• Ability to work with stakeholders at various levels and cross-functional teams spanning Trading, Control functions and Technology
Desired Skills:
• Interest in or appreciation for the strategic value of data
• Experience as a Product Owner as part of an agile team
• Familiarity with programming language like Python
• Familiarity in any Data Reporting Tool like Tableau.
• Familiarity with data base modeling/design, knowledge graphs, taxonomies and/or ontologies, SPARQL, Collibra
