In line with these aims, we are looking for an established leader to p rovide net zero advice to coverage bankers, develop sectoral opportunities and manage the Net Zero Program Management Office (PMO) and project team.This role will focus primarily on the bank s financed, retail and facilitated emissions reductions, while also developing strategies for scope 1, 2, and the supplier engagement dimension of scope 3. This is a key program for the bank and involves liaising with, advising, and influencing multiple sectoral business leads from oil and gas, metals and mining, power, aviation, shipping, road transport and commercial real estate.Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following.
• Grow and lead a team that works cross functionally to develop sectoral targets and decarbonization pathways:
  • Build and manage the bank-wide sectoral decarbonization strategies and related project teams (e.g., O&G, Metals and Mining, Transport, Cement, Steel, etc.). Ensure sectoral business leads have the technical support and advising where necessary to drive successful delivery.
  • Develop industry-leading strategies for scopes 1, 2, and the supplier engagement dimension of scope 3.
  • Serve as a senior net zero subject matter expert for business leadership.
• Serve as substantive advisor to senior bankers on net zero target-setting and baseline setting.
• Develop strategy to engage with Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction standards bodies at both net zero strategy and sectoral decarbonization levels.
• Support the Global Head of Sustainability Strategy and Net Zero on bank Net Zero positioning, policies and commitments.
• Lead ongoing engagement with business sectoral leaders and senior leadership about net zero business opportunities and decarbonization levers.
• Build and manage sectoral decarbonization-focused relationships with senior external stakeholders across the projects as well as internally identify and manage anticipated hurdles.
• In collaboration with Global Head of Sustainability Strategy and Net Zero, manage bank Net Zero Management Team and the Group Net Zero Steering Committee.
• Manage strategy and engagement with the Net Zero Commercial Institutional Banking (CCIB) Management Team and Operational Committee.
• Lead Net Zero delivery reporting and external assurance for the bank.
• Develop bank-wide net zero training.
• Develop and training resources, as and when required.
• Support the adherence to necessary Sustainability frameworks and policies, including input into the evolution of Sustainability frameworks.
Our Ideal Candidate
• Extensive experience managing climate change, environmental management, energy transition, engineering, and/or carbon accounting programmes in a large corporation or bank.
• Established decarbonization experience.
• Proven experience managing carbon accounting models, quality control and implementation teams.
• Substantial knowledge of climate reporting landscape and / or the Science-based Targets Initiative with an understanding of indicators used in frameworks and standards.
• Detailed knowledge of Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP), including PCAF.
• Proven experience managing a large team of direct reports in emerging markets.
• Demonstrable experience building and managing a multi-country and multi-region programme in a matrix organisation.
• Proven project management experience and related methodologies and tools including reporting and budgeting for a multi-million-dollar programme.
• Strong relationship management skills with demonstrated experience managing matrixed teams, ensuring buy in amongst several stakeholders with potentially competing priorities.
• Proven experience in risk management and mitigation for senior leadership.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify the complex.
• Flexible and resilient, able to work in ambiguous situations to deliver on time and under pressure
