Role: Guide, drive, oversee and deliver Multi-Asset Class and underlying product / security research for the business with a team of analysts (currently 3).This will entail:1. In the context of Multi-Asset Class Wealth Strategy for clients:a. Formulating house views on and exposure stance, based fundamental and / or quantitative analysis of macros as impacting markets and various asset classes, on various asset classes:i. India Equitiesii. India Debtiii. Foreign Equities in relation to Indian investorsiv. India Realtyv. Gold b. Building and managing asset allocation models for various risk profiles2. In the context of listed equities:a. In-depth fundamental equity research on stocks NOT covered by Spark Institutional Equities Research (IER). We are market-cap and sector agnostic.b. Creating a list of high conviction stock ideas (based on all kinds of research available to the team) and continuous monitoring of the same.c. Scanning market and researching on special situations opportunities in listed equitiesd. Oversee technicals and quantitative research to generate trade ideas for clients, irrespective of stock coverage by Spark IER.3. In the context of unlisted equities:a. Drive and deliver in-house research to help focus the deal team on preferred themes / industries to scan for opportunities to invest in for Spark PWM clientsb. In-depth fundamental research for clients on ideas shortlisted by the business (mostly deals that would provide a liquidity event over 2-3 years)c. Assist deal handling teams in creating pitches to investors as also to issuers to win mandates. This could seem a bit like an investment banking role.4. Detailed quantitative and qualitative research on all MFs available in India. 5. In the context of other 3rd party products research, build a system for profiling and evaluating schemes of PMS and AIFs so as to match suitability of each such product to the risk profiles of clients.6. Tracking bond issuer credit standing and scanning for bond market opportunities for investors7. Engagement with Clients:a. Oversee delivery of regular and ad-hoc research output by the research team for dissemination of research views to clientsb. Create events, with the business, so as to constantly highlight and buttress research views with clientsc. Regular interactions with clients as and when required8. Drive engagement with research partners, including Spark IER for Spark PWM sales and research team9. Expanding and grooming a team of specialist research analysts for the many facets of research we are looking to deliver on for our clients. Candidate Profile:1. Passionate about investing and research for the sake of investing. Basically actionable research and not academic research.2. High on knowledge, in general, and excellent ability to scan and understand financial statements3. Superb communication skills - speak, present and write. A history of having published reports would be critical. Ability to use audio-visual modes of communication would be a plus. Further, if the person has a good presence / following on blogsphere, that would a big plus.4. An eye for detail and an heightened sense of presentation aesthetics as role involves overseeing all the output of SPARK PWM that will go to clients5. Recent experience in a middle level sell-side research or buy-side as a portfolio manager or as a sector specialist in investment banking would be essential.
