This in turn helps us to provide better support to our broad client base.The Role ResponsibilitiesThe role holder will be a part of a new Risk Governance hub in Bengaluru India, to embed, monitor and improve governance to comply with BCBS 239 requirements. The role holder will work in close alignment with an onshore team that leads the implementation of compliance with BCBS 239 for Standard Chartered and senior stakeholder management. Strategy

  • Awareness and understanding of the Group s risk strategy, frameworks and regulatory requirements appropriate to the role.
Business
  • This is a role which includes supporting ERM-related obligations, including implementing validation and effectiveness reviews in BAU and supporting the annual BCBS 239 self-assessment process across the Group
Processes
  • The role holder is not responsible for specific processes, as per the Operational Risk Type Framework
People and Talent
  • The role holder will not initially have any direct reports, however, should lead through example, build the appropriate culture and values and work in collaboration with a broad group of stakeholders.
Risk Management
  • Ensure that risks are properly identified and mitigated, and issues are appropriately escalated.
Governance
  • Ensure that outcomes delivered, including necessary controls are fit for purpose and meet regulatory requirements
  • Ensure the Bank s risk governance disciplines are adhered with.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework (specifically BCBS 239) in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Key Stakeholders
  • The role requires working closely with BCBS 239 Programme team, control document owners, Risk Governance and Enterprise Risks team, Risk & Compliance, Finance, Group Treasury and Information Technology functions within the Group.
Other ResponsibilitiesThe following key responsibilities are indicative and specific activities will be prioritised based on agreed action plans. Assist the representative for additional risk type implementation in areas of:
  • Development of guidance materials, presentations and templates
  • Provide guidance during the Self-Assessment for additional PRTs
Oversight activities (obtain subject matter knowledge to be effective in additional PRT activities)
  • Driving along with Programme Manager for PgSc pack preparation
  • Driving with Programme Manager Self-Assessment activities
Get cross-trained in other aspects of BCBS 239 activities in the Risk Governance Hub and be the back up for other team members.Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor Degree qualifications and minimum of 12-14 years of experience in financial services, preferably in a Bank with a specialisation in risk management.
  • Relevant experience in BCBS 239 is desirable though not essential.
  • Bank training, including mandatory & developmental - role specific, and regulatory/compliance bank wide & role specific trainings to be complied with as mandated from time to time.
