Job Description

*Senior UX/UI DeveloperThe Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) UX team supports both key marketing initiatives and product design for internal tools. With increasing demand for support for product design, we are looking for a Senior UX/UI Developer to join the small but talented, global team. If you excel at getting all the little details of CSS right and are passionate about educating others about UX, we want youWorking closely with business stakeholders and tech partners, you ll help the team craft the right experiences that will increase operational efficiency, facilitate investment team collaboration, and improve user satisfaction & adoption. You ll have the opportunity to contribute greatly to the UX process, education of colleagues, and design system.Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain highly reusable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure that the implementation matches specified designs
  • Advise on the creation of UX/UI assets (sketches, user flows, wireframes & prototypes) based on limitations of tech stack
  • Practice inclusive design; designing for equity and accessibility
  • Manage multiple projects at one time, switching focus between projects as required to manage priorities
  • Design and deliver responsive/adaptive solutions that are optimized for web and mobile interfaces and partner with engineers to translate designs into successful products
  • Lead the refinement and building up of our design system able to work closely with development on creating a well-documented library of UI components and patterns
  • Determine how/when new UX/UI components are added and when variations are appropriate as to maintain developer adoption and consistency
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of front-end development experience
  • 2-3 years of experience as a UX/UI designer
  • Expert knowledge of HTML5 and CSS
  • Working knowledge of Javascript and associated frameworks (Angular, React, AG Grid, and HighCharts)
  • Proficiency with Sketch, InVision, and Figma
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Experience with documenting design system components in Storybook
  • Awareness of the differences in popular internet browsers: IE, Chrome, Firefox, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfort with executing designs with minimal information and/or overall understanding of project, and minimal oversight
  • Experience working in financial services or comparable industries designing complex digital products with data visualizations and dashboards, preferred
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates both JavaScript proficiency and understanding of solid design principles (plugins, node packages, etc.)
