Job Description

    1) Evaluate catalogue / standard gearbox designs and optimize based on critical performanceparameters. Support on production designs to modify and optimize to meet customerrequirements.Position Description StatementFormat No. PI/HRD/11, Rev:002) Develop detailed engineering specifications to the component level for all gearbox components gear, shafts, bearings, housing, lubrication system, material selection, heat treatment or othersecondary processing.3) Work with CFTs (Cross Functional Team) Engineering, Reliability Testing, Quality, Production,Sourcing, etc. and help to launch into production through proper product validation and assistoperation team by meeting total cost and quality objectives4) Timely preparation of Technical Proposals and documentation for new product, and presentationto internal and external customer5) Work closely with manufacturing and production team to resolve technical issues on existing aswell as new product designs.6) Support CFTs via PSP (Problem Solving Process) to do proper root cause analysis of gearboxrelated failures7) Should be able to work independently and drive the ideas through innovations and implementinto POCs / Prototypes and convince the top management and business leaders8) Focus on Development of New Gearbox Technologies and present the ideas in Globalconferences, write technical papers, generate patents, etc.FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES1) Gear design and analysis skill for all gears helical, spur, bevel and worm and worm gears forplanetary & parallel axis gearing, etc2) Knowledge of Materials (Metal / Polymers), Heat Treatments, tribology3) Design for Manufacturability (assembly, tolerances), design for reliability,metrology/profile/geometry measurement, testing & validation4) In depth knowledge of gear rating calculations using standards like ISO, AGMA, JIS5) Bearing selection and analysis for all types of bearings like ball, cylindrical roller, needle roller,angular contact bearing, etc. Knowledge of bearings preloading, bearing life calculation usingadvanced methods like ISO 281.6) Hands on knowledge of gear simulation software like Kisssoft, Romax, Masta, etc and analysisfor optimum gear geometry for durability, noise and efficiency7) Understanding of CAE tools like Ansys, Altair tools will be added advantage8) Other required skills: Mechanical design, GD&T, stack up analysis, DFMEA, 2D/3D CADmodelling
